Joe Biden, meet Joe Biden on immigration

Rapid Response

An open borders policy is not humane – it is dangerous.  Until the Biden administration, that was the bipartisan consensus, and even the position Joe Biden formerly held himself.

Barack Obama in 2014:Do not send your children to the borders. If they do make it, they'll get sent back. More importantly, they may not make it.”

Hillary Clinton in 2014:We have to send a clear message, just because your child gets across the border, that doesn't mean the child gets to stay…So, we don't want to send a message that is contrary to our laws or will encourage more children to make that dangerous journey.”

Joe Biden in 2014: “Those who are pondering risking their lives to reach the United States should be aware of what awaits them.  It will not be open arms.  It will not be come on -- it will be, we’re going to hold hearings with our judges consistent with international law and American law, and we’re going to send the vast majority of you back.”

And yet, after admitting today that their border policies are creating an “influx” at the border, Press Secretary Jen Psaki insisted they are not considering changes.

Biden is not just out of step with his former position, but also border-state Democrats that are warning of “catastrophic” consequences of Biden’s open borders agenda.

Joe Biden’s policies are creating a crisis at the border. Far from reversing these policies, however, Biden is refusing to even recognize a crisis exists. It is a complete failure of leadership, and America’s border communities are paying the price.
