It’s a dead heat in Virginia. A new poll shows Republican Glenn Youngkin leading Democrat Terry McAuliffe for the first time.

McAuliffe’s campaign has been in freefall since his disastrous debate performance, in which he told parents they have no role in their kids’ education. It turns out that’s an unpopular proposition with most Virginia voters – and most Americans.
Now, McAuliffe is getting desperate. In the coming weeks, his campaign has tapped a slew of far-left, radical surrogates to help make his case – including conspiracy theorist Stacey Abrams and Defund the Police surrogate Keisha Lance Bottoms. He’s even trotting out former President Barack Obama (which makes sense, since he was president the last time gas prices were this high) and Jill Biden (though with six-in-ten Virginia voters disapproving of Joe Biden’s job performance as president, that might not be the best idea).
McAuliffe is in trouble – and he knows it. If this election is a harbinger of what is to come, Democrats have every reason to be worried.
