At the request of Tennessee
Governor Bill Lee, President Trump
established the Memphis Safe Task Force yesterday
to stop the out-of-control crime that been devastating Memphis and
its residents.
In 2024, Memphis had the highest violent crime rate in
the United States:
- 249
murders
- 429
rapes
- 5,616
burglaries
- 12,522
violent assaults
Memphis residents are eager to see change and have welcomed President Trump's
help:
- Memphis Resident:
"We need [the National Guard] bad. They need to hurry up and
come."
- Mike
Miller, Owner of Patrick's
restaurant in East Memphis: "This is an opportunity for us and for
our city. I hope we make the most of it."
- Olympia
Pritchard, Hickory Hill resident:
"It's just so dangerous that you can't get out of your car... If
the National Guard is going to stop the crime, bring them on!"
- Memphis
Resident: "President Donald
Trump who is finally saying, 'Yes, Memphis matters. We are going to make
Memphis safe again' — because our local leaders have failed to do
so."

victim of an Overton Square Carjacking: "I honestly
thought he was going to kill me. I was screaming don't hurt me."

Hickory Hill: "We're grateful for the National Guard coming."

is offering free sandwiches to Guard Members: "Without a doubt,
[the federal deployment to Memphis] will help."

Jamieson, Owner of Mortimer's who is
offering free lunch plates to Guard Members: "I'm very concerned
about crime, like everybody else."
President Trump and Tennessee Republicans
understand that every American deserves to feel safe and will work tirelessly
to Make Memphis Safe Again.
