It’s only been two days since we learned of Raphael Warnock’s association with antisemite and Black supremacist Leonard Jeffries, but we’ve already learned more about just how deep Warnock’s extremism runs.
In the past 24 hours, we’ve learned Warnock was a pastor at a New York City church when it hosted an event featuring notorious antisemite Louis Farrakhan. We’ve also learned Warnock’s current church belongs to a far-left group that endorsed Critical Race Theory as the “true understanding of the history and evolution” of the United States.
Warnock’s past is already marred by association with antisemites, a brutal dictator, and controversial figures and ideas:
- Warnock praised Marxism, writing in his book “the Marxist critique has much to teach the Black church.”
- Warnock said he’s “sick and tired” of hearing criticism of socialism.
- Warnock accused Israel of “shoot[ing] down unarmed Palestinian” people “like birds of prey,” smeared it as an “apartheid” state, signed on to a letter likening it to “apartheid South Africa,” and celebrated the Nation of Islam as “needed” and “important.”
- Warnock praised Cuban dictator Fidel Castro’s legacy as “complex, kinda like America’s legacy is complex” (then refused to disavow his comments).
- Warnock praised ex-Obama pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright as “a prophet” who should be “celebrate[d]” — even after Wright’s infamous “God Damn America” sermon.
- Warnock eulogized his mentor, Dr. James Hal Cone — who argued white Christians are “satanic” and called for “the destruction of everything white” — as a “poignant and powerful voice” of high “spiritual magnitude.”
Georgians will reject Warnock and his politics of division and hate.
