Joe Biden is refusing to listen to the science on reopening schools, and it’s devastating working parents, especially moms.
The Biden administration’s embarrassingly weak goal of having 50%-plus-one of the schools open for just 1 day per week in 100 days would only open schools for a small percentage of the time schools would normally be open. Biden’s plan doesn’t help working parents, it abandons them.
An increasing majority of working parents say providing child care is a struggle, and that burden has disproportionally fallen on working moms.
It’s causing what TIME referred to as a “she-cession.” Hundreds of thousands of women have been forced out of the workforce or forced to reduce their hours because the schools are not open.
The kicker, according to Biden’s own CDC director, closing the schools does not actually reduce transmission rates: “there is more spread that is happening in the community when schools are not open than when schools are open”
Under President Trump, more than half of the jobs created went to women, but Biden’s refusal to reopen schools is compounding an economic crisis that is rolling the clock back decades on the advancement of women in the workforce. Biden’s complete capitulation to Democrat special interest groups is a lose-lose – it fails to reduce transmission rates while harming families.
