Last week, Karine Jean-Pierre insisted Joe Biden has been “directly involved” in negotiations to avert a massive nationwide rail strike.
Somebody might want to tell that to Biden. Less than 48 hours after Jean-Pierre’s remarks, Biden told reporters he has “not directly engaged yet.”

Of course, it’s easy to see why the Biden administration is eager to avoid such a political football. With an expected $2 billion per day in economic losses and a spike in inflation, a rail strike would have “devastating” consequences — and that doesn’t even include the hundreds of thousands of jobs and the hosts of industries which would be impacted by a nationwide strike.
So why isn’t Biden on the same page?
Are they lying or just incompetent? Probably both.
