To dodge accountability for Biden’s shockingly bad jobs report last Friday, his administration has settled on a new excuse: school closures.
It was a refrain repeated by Biden’s Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, by his Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, and repeatedly by his Labor Secretary Marty Walsh. It went something like this…we can’t be blamed for the jobs report because “schools remain closed” and that’s “keeping people from getting back in the workforce.”
So in effect, their excuse for the dismal jobs report is to concede that Biden has failed on one of his primary campaign promises: to reopen schools.
Biden needs to reopen schools for the economy to recover, but instead, he let his CDC be influenced by teachers unions working to keep them closed.

Indeed, the Biden administration is right that just last month, 165,000 women left the workforce, and according to former Obama economic adviser Austan Goolsbee, “women had a net job loss” because “schools remained closed.”
So much for reopening schools in 100 days.
Instead, the Biden administration decided to give teachers unions working to keep schools closed “what they need” by letting them influence his CDC’s school reopening guidance, a decision they have repeatedly defended. It’s part of a cycle of appeasing Democrat special interest groups, failing to reopen schools, and doubling down on the same failing policies.
And as Biden goes round and round appeasing the far-left, American children are not back in school, and working parents struggle to provide for their families.
