On the border, Harris speaks for the extremes

Rapid Response

Earlier this week when discussing the border crisis, Joe Biden said of Kamala Harris, “When she speaks, she speaks for me.”

That should concern every American.

Kamala Harris has been openly disdainful of immigration law, and of those officers who enforce it. She supports sanctuary cities, and said in 2018 that “we need to probably think about starting from scratch” when referring to ICE.  She called immigration enforcement a “campaign of terror” and introduced legislation to reduce ICE’s ability to continue enforcing immigration laws.

In 2018, Harris even went as far as to compare ICE officers enforcing the law to the KKK.

Her disdain for immigration law carries through to her callous disregard for actually securing the border. In 2019, Harris called border security “a distraction from the real issues.”

During the campaign, she also repeatedly called for decriminalizing border crossings.

And Harris contributed to the very rhetoric that is causing the current crisis. Far from discouraging illegal immigration, Harris has supported giving illegal immigrants access to Medicare.

So to solve the border crisis Biden created with his rhetoric and policy changes, he turns to someone who has shown disdain for enforcing immigration law, calls border security a “distraction,” and supports taxpayer benefits for illegal immigrants.

That’s not showing Biden is taking the crisis seriously, it is showing he is doubling down on the same failed policies that created the crisis in the first place.
