Even Democrats are admitting that they are now the party of open borders.
As reported by Politico, Democrats in border communities are begging Biden to change course as his “open borders” policies create a crisis:
Rep. Vicente González: “The way we’re doing it right now is catastrophic and is a recipe for disaster in the middle of a pandemic… Biden is going to be dealing with a minority in Congress if he continues down some of these paths.”
Colin Strother, a Texas Democratic consultant: “One of the things we have battled in a lot of campaigns is the ad hominem attack of Democrats being for ‘open borders,’…we’re becoming the stereotype.”
Rep. Henry Cuellar: “I said, ‘Hey, we don’t want the wall, but when it comes to the other issues, we gotta be careful that we don't give the impression that we have open borders because otherwise the numbers are going to start going up. And surely enough, we’re starting to see numbers go up.”
But far from listening to the warnings coming from people in their own party, Biden and Democrat leadership are proposing amnesty for over 11 million illegal immigrants without any meaningful increases in border security funding. One White House official even astonishingly insisted, “There is no need for added enforcement mechanisms.”
As America still grapples with the pandemic, Biden has decided to prioritize policies that are already creating a crisis at the border. Instead of embracing a radical, reckless “open borders” agenda that endangers our communities, Biden should work to reopen America’s schools.
