Rules for thee, not for me

There’s been yet another entry in the growing “Democrats are hypocrites” encyclopedia.

This time it’s from one of the Democrats’ repeat offenders…Gretchen Whitmer.

On Saturday, she violated her own restaurant capacity restrictions by sitting with a dozen other people. She even pushed separate tables together. Astonishingly, her excuse is she “didn’t stop to think about it.” Meanwhile, the people of Michigan struggle under her anti-science, draconian orders. If only everyone in Michigan had the luxury to not think about it.

Reminder: Whitmer is also currently facing criticism for chartering a private jet to Florida with a nonprofit footing part of the bill, despite issuing guidance to explicitly not travel there.

If you thought Whitmer was alone in her blatant hypocrisy, you’d be wrong. She’s part of a growing party of self-righteous politicians who violate their own COVID restrictions.

Business Insider put together a list of 14 Democrat officials who think they are too important to follow their own rules:

  • House Speaker Nancy Pelosi
  • Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer
  • New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo
  • California Gov. Gavin Newsom
  • Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot
  • Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser
  • California Sen. Dianne Feinstein
  • Austin Mayor Steve Adler
  • San Francisco Mayor London Breed
  • Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl
  • San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo
  • Denver Mayor Michael Hancock
  • Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams
  • Deputy Brooklyn Borough President Ingrid Lewis-Martin

Democrats are the party of “rules for thee and not for me.” Maybe that’s why they quickly dismiss the impacts of their restrictions; they never followed them in the first place.
