The contrast between Republicans and Democrats on election integrity could not be clearer.
As Republicans push for free and fair elections, Democrat officials around the country have other priorities.
For example, at least 10 municipalities allow noncitizens to vote in local elections, all of which are in blue states.
Montpelier and Winooski, Vermont may be next to join them, as Democrat officials pushed a measure to allow noncitizens to vote through the Vermont Senate earlier this week.
To no one’s surprise, the Democrat officials in these jurisdictions have as much respect for election integrity as they do for immigration law. Every one of these jurisdictions is a sanctuary city or county.
And in case you believe these are isolated incidents, Democrats in Congress have proposed H.R. 1 to nationalize measures that weaken election integrity. Even progressives and immigration lawyers admit the bill would open the door to noncitizens being registered to vote.
In Illinois for example, their automatic voter registration program – something H.R. 1 would mandate nationwide – registered a 545 possible noncitizen voters in 2020.
As Democrat officials undermine basic election integrity measures, they smear Republicans for passing laws that will make our elections more secure and transparent. But their disinformation campaign isn’t working. Americans support common-sense election integrity laws, and the Republican National Committee will keep fighting for them.
