Strategic Petroleum Reserve: A Timeline

Rapid Response

Gas prices are on the rise once again, and to be honest, gas has been outrageously expensive for well over a year despite Biden’s bizarre bragging.

Biden constantly cites his decision to release oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve as proof he brought down gas prices. Given that, it’s helpful to look at a quick timeline of how we got here:

  1. March 2020: Senate Democrats – including Kamala Harris – blocked President Trump from filling the reserve when oil prices were low.
  2. January 2021: Biden begins his war on American energy, sending energy prices surging.
  3. November 2021: Biden announces his first release from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
  4. March 2022: Biden releases millions more barrels from the reserve as political backlash continues to grow from his forced energy “transition.”
    • The administration is warned that this release is “not a long term solution” and “might actually keep prices higher” in the long term.
  5. Today: America’s reserve is depleted to its lowest level in decades and gas prices are still high.

So what have Biden’s anti-American energy policies given us? Higher prices, a depleted reserve, and weaker influence on the world stage. It’s past time to unleash American energy!
