Democrat Fails, Hypocrisy, and Lies

Terry McAuliffe, the CRT Governor

Rapid Response

Terry McAuliffe’s campaign is ending just as it began: by shamelessly lying.

For months, McAuliffe has dismissed parents concerned with critical race theory (CRT) as “racist,” calling CRT a “right-wing conspiracy” and “dog whistle” that is “not taught in Virginia.” He has said it again and again (and again and again).

He’s lying. In fact, during McAuliffe’s term as governor, his administration was actively promoting CRT, telling the state’s public schools to “embrace” CRT as a way to “re-engineer attitudes and belief systems.”

That’s not an isolated incident; CRT is being pushed by Democrats and far-left bureaucrats across the commonwealth:

  • In 2019, Virginia’s state superintendent of public instruction promoted CRT to public schools, calling it “an important analytic tool” for dealing with the “dynamics of power and privilege in schooling.”
  • Last year, the Virginia Department of Education’s “equity summit” featured a speech on “systemic racism” and “dismantling capitalism” from critical race theorist Bettina Love.
  • Alexandria City Public Schools is actively promoting resources aligned with critical race theory.
  • Loudoun County Public Schools is teaching “critical race theory” to students.

McAuliffe knows he’s not telling the truth – but he also knows CRT is unpopular with Virginia parents. With the most recent polling consistently showing education as a top issue for Virginia voters, McAuliffe knows he can’t let his record speak for itself.

So he lies. But unfortunately for him, Virginia parents aren’t buying it.
