The Democrat Communist Apologists

Members of the Democrat Party have been apologists for Cuba’s communist dictators for decades.

There’s a harsh and telling contrast between Cubans suffering through communism, crying out for Democracy against their repressive Communist leaders, and the Democrats’ repeated praise of the regime.

In 2016, President Barack Obama praised Cuba’s communist dictators and said they “should be congratulated” for making “great progress” and “huge improvement” in education and health care.

Senator Bernie Sanders praised Fidel Castro for “totally transform[ing] the society” in the 1980s.
- In 2020, he again praised Castro’s “literacy program.”
- He still refuses to disavow his comments, and has repeatedly doubled down on them.
When Fidel Castro died in 2016, Democrat Rep. Karen Bass praised him: “The passing of the Comandante en Jefe is a great loss to the people of Cuba”
Bass visited Cuba in the 1970s as part of the “Venceremos Brigade” which touts its “solidarity with the Cuban Revolution.”
He did not object when his church hosted Fidel Castro in 1995, and received thousands in donations for his 2020 campaign from the senior pastor who called Castro “one of the great leaders of the world."
Senator Raphael Warnock memorialized Fidel Castro’s legacy as “complex” upon his death, and compared his regime to the United States.
Biden’s Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra visited Cuba in 1996 on a “fact-finding” mission, and refused to call for free and fair elections in Cuba afterwards.

Now, Press Secretary Jen Psaki is refusing to condemn communism amid the protests. Democratic Socialists of America members like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are now silent after praising radical socialist policies. And Joe Biden? He has no plans to speak out against communism according to Psaki.

Now is the time for Democrats to finally condemn communism in Cuba, but so far they refuse. Maybe it is because they support many of the policies, like a government-takeover of healthcare, that are failing so vividly in Cuba.
