65%
of Americans do not want Democrats to shut down the
government, but they are
forcing one anyway.
House
Republicans passed a CLEAN continuing resolution to keep the
government funded but Democrats voted
against it and blocked it in the Senate.
Yet, Democrats like Texas Rep. Vicente
Gonzalez are trying to place the blame on Republicans.

Weak
Democrats (as described by their
own base) are trying to dismantle popular
Republican reforms that strengthen and protect Medicaid.
- 72% of
voters support requiring able-bodied adults on Medicaid to
work, look for work, or do community service part-time.
- 68% of
voters support strengthening Medicaid eligibility
integrity to remove ineligible enrollees.
Chuck Schumer
once admitted that
illegal immigrants have no place on taxpayer-funded benefits,
but now he’s turned his back on the will of the American
people.
Democrats know exactly what
they are doing and the harm it will cause everyday hardworking
Americans:
- Arizona Senator Mark Kelly:
“A government shutdown would have serious impacts...
Congress needs to work together to prevent a shutdown.”
- Arizona Senator Ruben Gallego:
A government shutdown "would be a disaster for
Arizona families."
- California Rep. Nancy Pelosi:
"Our country does not need any shutdown and there is
no good shutdown."
- California Rep. Mark Takano:
“Shutting down the government is the worst thing … for
veterans and our country."
- California Senator Adam Schiff:
If the government shut down, employees "would've not
gotten their paychecks" and "service members in
the military would be forced to go to work and not get
paid.
- House Democrat Leader Hakeem Jeffries:
"Families will be hurt. Farmers will be hurt. Border
security and Border Patrol agents will not be paid"
- Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren:
“The least we can do...would be to pass a continuing
resolution to keep the doors open and the lights on."
- Michigan Senator Gary Peters:
“A government shutdown will be a disaster for our
economy and for people in Michigan and across the country.
- Rhode Island Senator Jack Reed: "A
government shutdown of any duration would harm
hardworking Americans."
- Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar:
"Shutdowns are not good for the economy."
- Senate Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer:
"If the government shuts down, it will
be average Americans who suffer most..."
- Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders:
A government shutdown is "a serious and
dangerous action that we must do everything possible to
prevent."
- Virginia Senator Mark Warner:
“Government shutdowns unleash chaos on federal workers,
delay pay for servicemembers, and weaken our position on
the global stage.”
- Virginia Senator Tim Kaine read letters
from his constituents describing the effects of a
government shutdown including, delayed military training,
lost veterans' services, and closed parks

The only way to
avoid this devastation and keep the government funded is to pass Republicans'
CLEAN continuing resolution but Democrats won't do it.
They own this shutdown.
