After a few hours in Israel, Biden is on his way back to the United States.
His trip represents a missed opportunity for Biden to demonstrate strength — and secure the release of American hostages.
Here’s what you need to know from Biden’s drive-by in Israel:
- Biden hardly mentioned the kidnapped American citizens. Save for a few passing references, Biden did nothing to lay down a marker on Americans held hostage by Hamas terrorists. Instead, Biden left the Middle East without securing the release of a single hostage.
- Biden announced $100 million in “new U.S. funding” for Hamas-controlled Gaza. Instead of leveraging American assistance for the release of American citizens, Biden is showering Hamas terrorists with more taxpayer funding.
- Biden declared “the other team” was responsible for Gaza hospital blast. His weak statement did not include a rebuke of his fellow Democrats, who took the word of Hamas propagandists to accuse Israel of war crimes — and still haven’t backed off the antisemitic implication.
- Biden did a lot of rambling. In a meeting with the Israeli prime minister, Biden started to recount a bizarre story about serving in the U.S. Senate with his secretary of state (who has never served in elected office), then forgot what he was saying.
Of course, Biden took no questions — then, as quickly as he arrived, left for home.
Americans need a commander-in-chief who leads from strength, and that’s certainly not Joe Biden.
