Top ten: Biden declared "victories," delivered crises

Rapid Response

The reviews are terrible for Joe Biden one year in.

The Washington Post describes Biden’s “long slide” and “declining popularity,” The Hill says he’s in “dire straits,” and even MSNBC says Biden has “failed miserably.”

But as Biden struggles on almost every issue, he refuses to recognize reality. He has declared “victory” after “victory,” only to deliver crisis after crisis.

Of the many examples, here’s a top ten list:

First Myth: In July, Biden declared “independence from COVID-19” after promising to “shut down the virus.”

Reality: Daily COVID-positive cases have reached new records and tragically, more people have died of COVID since Biden took office than before, despite the fact he was handed a vaccine developed in record time.

Second Myth: Biden declared there would be enough COVID tests by the holidays, and declared victory on opening schools.

Reality: Thousands of schools have been closed or remote after Senate Democrats refused to tie funding to reopening, and Biden rejected proposals to order enough tests and treatments when he could have, leading to long lines across the country.

Third Myth: Despite reports to the contrary, Biden has insisted his supply chain crisis “didn’t actually occur.

Reality: The number of ships waiting off the coast of Los Angeles and Long Beach has reached new all-time highs. During the holidays, “out-of-stock messages were up 10% from a year ago … and up 253% from 2019.”

Fourth Myth: Biden and his administration repeatedly promised inflation was “transitory.”

Reality: December’s Consumer Price Index rose by 7 percent compared to last year – the largest annual increase in over 39 years, and even the Biden administration has admitted “it’s time to retire the word ‘transitory.’

Fifth Myth: Biden bizarrely claimed “wages have gone up faster than inflation.”

Reality: American workers’ real wages went DOWN 2.4% from a year ago.

Sixth Myth: Biden claimed his Afghanistan withdrawal was an “extraordinary success.”

Reality: The Taliban took over Afghanistan and 13 U.S. service members were killed because of his disastrous decisions.

Seventh Myth: In April, border czar Kamala Harris claimed they had made “progress” on Biden’s border crisis, and Biden insisted he had “gotten control.”

Reality: There is no measure that indicates Biden has gotten his border crisis under control. It remains the worst in DHS history. Meanwhile, Harris hasn’t gone to the border since June, and despite admitting he should go, Biden never has.

Eighth Myth: Biden claimed, “I don’t shock our allies.”

Reality: Biden’s reckless decisions in Afghanistan and the cancelation of Nord Stream 2 sanctions have shocked and betrayed our allies and partners while recent aggressive actions show our enemies are emboldened.

Ninth Myth: Biden insisted he “ran for president to unite the country.”

Reality: He has descended into divisive, factless, angry rants, baselessly smearing half the country. A plurality of Americans give him an “F” on “uniting the country.”

Tenth Myth: When Biden has not ignored the issue, he has insisted “crime is down” on his watch.

Reality: 12 U.S. cities set homicide records last year as crime surges around the country.

Enough phony victories. Enough lies. Americans see the disastrous impacts of Biden’s policies with their own eyes, and they rightly hold him responsible for it. But he doesn’t care.
