Warnock meet Warnock on voter ID

Rapid Response

Democrats can’t stop lying about common sense voter integrity provisions.

The latest – Raphael Warnock now claims he has “never been opposed to voter ID.” What? Never opposed to voter ID? Unfortunately for Warnock, there are receipts.

  • Warnock in 2021: Voter ID provisions are akin to “Jim Crow in new clothes… Since the January election, some 250 voter suppression bills have been introduced by state legislatures all across the country.”

  • Warnock in 2016: "All of these voter suppression laws saying we've got to have voter ID laws because if we don't they might vote twice. Are you kidding? Have you been in America these last several years? It's hard enough to get people to vote once, let alone twice.”

  • Warnock in 2015: “Dealing with these voter ID laws, this is not about voter verification, this is about voter suppression. They’re still playing the same games.”

  • Warnock in 2012: “[U]nnecessary and unjustifiable voter ID law… constitute, in my estimation, a poll tax.”

His opposition to Georgia’s voter ID provisions even fueled a boycott that denied $100 million to Georgia small businesses still recovering from the pandemic.

Warnock is blatantly lying, and Democrats have already said the quiet part out loud as to why: to pass their H.R.1 / S.1 partisan power grab to federalize our elections. They have resorted to dishonest talking points in order to, among other things, send taxpayer dollars to their campaign accounts.

Warnock was lying when he called common sense voter ID provisions “voter suppression.” He is lying now when he said he never opposed voter ID. And it’s all in an effort to pass a partisan power grab over our elections.
