Why won’t Biden condemn communism in Cuba?

Rapid Response

Why won’t Joe Biden condemn communism in Cuba? He even seems afraid to use the word.

Protesters in Cuba have been taking to the streets to demand “libertad” from decades of socialist and communist dictatorship, but the administration is seemingly tiptoeing as to not offend Cuba’s communists.

Here’s a timeline:

  • Monday – The Biden administration issued their first statement on the protests (which his press secretary implied did not come from him), but it failed to mention socialism or communism.
  • Today – Press Secretary Jen Psaki conceded “not at this time” when asked if Biden has plans to publicly condemn communism in Cuba.
    • In the same briefing, Psaki repeatedly refused to say the word communism, instead blaming “mismanagement” for the protests in Cuba.

“Mismanagement”? The word is “COMMUNISM.” Does she have a place in mind where communism has been managed well?

In the past, American presidents were brave enough to call out communism’s evils and stand with people in communist nations demanding freedom. Why won’t Biden?
