New data shows 176,205 illegal immigrants were encountered at the southern border in January — the 35th straight month where encounters have been HIGHER than even the highest month of the Trump administration and a 237 percent increase from the average January under Trump.
Since Biden took office, more than nine million illegal immigrants have crossed the southern border, including 1.8+ million known “gotaways” who escaped past Border Patrol and into the country.
January’s number may seem lower relative to recent months, but it remains stunningly high — and NOT normal. Approximately 5,600 illegal immigrants crossed the border every day in January, dwarfing the definition of a “crisis” — “that 1,000 [illegal crossings/day] overwhelms the system” — set by Obama DHS Sec. Jeh Johnson in 2019.
REMINDER: Biden has made good on his promise to dismantle border security. He has all the authority he needs to REVERSE his executive actions, ENFORCE existing U.S. laws, and END the border crisis right now.
