New July Border Numbers Confirm Biden’s Border Crisis Rages On

NEW DATA SHOWS THE BIDEN BORDER CRISIS CONTINUES

• In July, 199,976 illegal immigrants were apprehended attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border.
  • That is a 325 percent increase from the average number of July apprehensions during the Trump administration.
  • 13,299 unaccompanied children were apprehended. 
  • 96,002 illegal immigrants were apprehended from countries outside the Northern Triangle and Mexico, showing that Biden’s crisis is global.
  • 66 people on the terror watchlist have been apprehended trying to enter the U.S. between ports of entry since the fiscal year began in October.
• More than 4.2 million illegal immigrants have crossed the border since Biden took office.
  • This includes the nearly 3.4 million illegal immigrants that Customs and Border Protection has apprehended and the over 800,000 gotaways that have escaped into the U.S. undetected.

DRUGS STREAM OVER THE BORDER AS CRIME IS SURGING

• Illicit drugs are flowing across the border at an alarming rate, with only a fraction being intercepted as border officials struggle to contain the smuggling.
• 2,071 pounds of deadly fentanyl and 12,989 pounds of methamphetamine were seized at the southern border in July alone, with much more likely getting through.
  • Joshua Sharfstein of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health: “If they’re seizing a lot, it’s because a lot is coming in.”
  • The amount of fentanyl seized in July is the equivalent of more than 469 million lethal doses.
  • More fentanyl has crossed the border in the last two months under Biden than in all of FY 2019 under President Trump’s leadership.
• San Diego, California has become the “epicenter of fentanyl smuggling,” with the city seeing a nearly 2,400 percent increase in fentanyl deaths in 2021 compared to 2016.
• Border Patrol agents in Nogales, Arizona seized more than one million fentanyl laced pills in just one week earlier this month.
• In El Paso, Texas, agents arrested a 16-year-old attempting to smuggle 16 pounds of fentanyl into the U.S. – enough fentanyl to kill more than three million Americans.
  • This comes as cartels are attempting to lure American teens to transport deadly drugs across the border in large numbers.

BIDEN IS RESPONSIBLE FOR A HUMANITARIAN CRISIS AT THE BORDER

• Despite Biden’s promise of a “fair and humane immigration system,” his open border policies aren’t compassionate; they are deadly.
• At least 609 illegal migrants have died this fiscal year attempting to cross the border, making this fiscal year the deadliest in the history of the southwest border with three months left.
  • This is more than double the number of deaths in 2019 and 2020 and more than the total for all of 2021.
• The situation is so dangerous that the Border Patrol has had to rescue a record number of illegal immigrants this fiscal year - nearly 19,000 in total.
  • This is nearly four times the number of rescues in each of the last two years of the Trump administration.
• In Kinney County, Texas, three illegal migrants and a human smuggler were killed last week after the smuggler attempted to evade law enforcement, crashing his car and killing all inside.
• In Santa Teresa, New Mexico, two illegal immigrants were killed and ten were injured in July after a human smuggler crashed his vehicle into a utility pole while attempting to evade police.
• Democrats are finally beginning to comprehend the humanitarian disaster Biden has created at the southern border, as illegal migrants arrive in major Democrat-run “sanctuary” cities like Washington D.C. and New York.
  • Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser even attempted to ask the Pentagon for the National Guard to be deployed to assist with the influx.
  • New York Mayor Eric Adams said the influx of illegal migrants to his city was a “real burden on New Yorkers.”
  • Meanwhile, mayors of towns across the southern border have been left dealing with the effects of Biden’s border crisis for more than a year.

BIDEN HAS ABANDONED BORDER PATROL AGENTS

• The Biden administration has abandoned Border Patrol, with agents left feeling “demonize[d].”
• DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas even admitted: “our Border Patrol agents, their morale is down and I understand why.”
  • National Border Patrol President Brandon Judd: “We're supposed to be protecting the American people, and we can't do that under this administration's policies, and that's a problem, and it's a problem for all America.”
  • Former Border Patrol Chief Rodney Scott: “If Customs and Border Protection, the current administration really cared about Border Patrol and wanted to hire more Border Patrol, they would allow them to do the mission as it was designed.”
• The Biden administration is punishing Border Patrol agents who were falsely accused of “whipping” migrants last year, despite an investigation finding no criminal conduct occurred.
  • More than a month after border agents were cleared of all wrongdoing Biden still has failed to apologize to the border agents he falsely smeared.

BIDEN’S OPEN BORDER POLICIES CREATED THIS CRISIS

• Biden’s failed policies created the crisis at the southern border.
  • In Biden’s first 100 days he took more than 94 executive actions on immigration, including halting construction of the border wall and ending the Trump administration’s successful “Remain in Mexico” policy.
  • Illegal immigrants are thanking Biden for his weak immigration policies, saying they “didn’t even want to try” crossing the border when Trump was president.
• Ranchers in Texas are now arresting illegal immigrants on their own property because Border Patrol is so overwhelmed.
• It’s not just Biden’s immigration policies making the border crisis worse, Democrats’ proposals across the nation are encouraging illegal immigration en masse to U.S. cities.
  • Pennsylvania Democrat candidate for Senate John Fetterman openly admitted, “Sanctuary cities is another policy that I very much support” and claimed that they “make everybody safer.”
  • Wisconsin Democrat candidate for Senate Mandela Barnes called for illegal immigrants to receive “driver’s licenses” and “in-state college tuition.”
• Republican leaders are done waiting for Biden to act.
  • Doug Ducey (R-AZ) announced Arizona will erect its own state-funded border wall on the U.S.-Mexico border in the Yuma portion to stop the flow of illegal immigrants.
  • Greg Abbott (R-TX) launched Operation Lone Star which has led to more than 290,000 migrant apprehensions and nearly 326 million lethal doses of fentanyl seized in just 18 months.
• A recent Politico/Morning Consult poll showed 57 percent of all registered voters and 61 percent of Independent voters disapprove of Biden’s handling of immigration.
