A Red Wave Across The Country

AMERICANS ARE REJECTING REJECT FAILED DEMOCRAT POLICIES

Voters have had enough of Biden and Democrats’ far-left policies, and a red wave is coming to sweep them out in the midterms next year.
- As the Cook Political Report’s Dave Wasserman said, Tuesday’s “results are consistent [with] a political environment in which Republicans would comfortably take back both the House and Senate in 2022.”
In seemingly every part of the country and among every demographic, Republicans made huge gains.

REPUBLICANS SWEPT VIRGINIA

Republicans had a historic night in Virginia, winning the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General’s races – the first time since 2009 – and retaking the House of Delegates in a clean sweep.
- Glenn Youngkin received more votes than any other candidate for statewide office in Virginia history.
- Marine Veteran Winsome Sears will become the first woman and first Black woman Lieutenant Governor, and Jason Miyares – the son of a Cuban exile – will become the state’s first Hispanic Attorney General.
Republicans are on track to flip seven seats in the House of Delegates, regaining the majority and ending Democrat control of the chamber.
- This is the first time the GOP netted House seats since 2013.
- Republican Otto Washcmann flipped House District 75, a majority black district that Ralph Northam won by 5 points in 2017 and Hillary Clinton won by 10 points in 2016.
Republicans made gains across nearly every demographic and in every corner of the Commonwealth.
- Youngkin won among Hispanics and parents, and made huge inroads among Jewish voters.

NEW JERSEY SHOWS HUGE REPUBLICAN MOMENTUM

Whatever the outcome in New Jersey, it’s a clear sign that Republicans will be competitive next year in even deep blue states.
Republican Jack Ciattarelli is within one point of Democrat Phil Murphy even though Biden won New Jersey by 16 points in 2020.
- Ciattarelli flipped four New Jersey counties – Atlantic, Cumberland, Gloucester and Morris – all of which Biden won just one year ago.
New Jersey Senate President Steve Sweeney lost his Senate seat to Republican Edward Durr, a truck driver who spent just $153 on his campaign.
- Sweeny is the longest-serving legislative leader in the state’s history and won his last election in 2017 by 17 points.
Republicans flipped Assembly District 2, with Claire Swift and Don Guardian claiming victory, and flipped two Gloucester County Commission seats that a Republican hasn’t won since 2010.

REPUBLICANS WON IN STATES ACROSS THE COUNTRY

In Pennsylvania's statewide judicial elections, Republicans have won all three races that have been called, and look like they will win the fourth to make a clean sweep.
- Republicans also secured key flips in Erie and Northampton, and in the bellwether county of Luzerne, Republicans swept all five county council seats, with three flips.
- Republicans flipped the Westmoreland District Attorney seat for the first time in more than 25 years and swept the countywide slate.
Political newcomer Mike Carey won the special election in Ohio’s 15th Congressional District by a nearly 17-point margin even though Democrats were privately saying they thought they could win.
In Texas, Republican candidate John Lujan flipped House District 118, a district Biden won by 14 points in 2020 and is 73 percent Hispanic.
History was made in Georgetown, South Carolina, with the town electing Carol Jayroe as the first Republican and first woman mayor.
In New York, Republicans had their best election night since 2016, including winning several key district attorney elections.
- Anne Donnelly became the first Republican District Attorney elected in Nassau County in two decades, and Republican Ray Tierney soundly defeated the incumbent Democrat in Suffolk County.
- Republican Danielle Fogel won the newly created 5th District State Supreme Court seat.

VOTERS REJECTED DEFUND THE POLICE

Voters in Minneapolis overwhelmingly rejected a Democrat-led ballot measure to eliminate their police department after a sharp spike in violent crime.
In deep-blue Seattle, Ann Davison is now the first Republican elected city attorney in more than three decades, beating out her police abolitionist opponent.
- Biden won Seattle by 53 points just last year.

The RNC recently reached over 12 million voter contacts this cycle to date and has over 300 staffers on the ground in 16 battleground states across the country.

- The RNC has already opened nine minority community centers, and is on track to open 35 by Election Day.
