Americans Recognize Critical Race Theory For What It Is – Divisive, Pernicious, And Bad For Our Country

CRITICAL RACE THEORY IS CREEPING INTO OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM, AND AMERICANS ARE OUTRAGED

• Critical race theory (CRT) is gradually seeping into classrooms across the country, corrupting America’s education system.
  • Critical race theory is a divisive theory built on the intellectual framework of identity-based Marxism which teaches that racism is embedded in American society.
  • The embrace of CRT has led to kindergartners being taught to be ashamed of their skin color and Americans pitted against one another. 
• Critical race theory is corrosive and antithetical to the history and founding of our nation – evident in the closely related 1619 Project which seeks to “reframe the country’s history.”
• Parents across the country have noticed the theory creeping into their children’s schools and have begun taking a stand against this divisive curriculum.
• While leftists embrace critical race theory, Americans overwhelmingly reject it.  
  • A survey by Parents Defending Education found that over two-thirds of respondents oppose schools teaching that America was founded on racism and is structurally racist, and close to 3 in 4 respondents oppose white privilege training. 

THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION AND DEMOCRAT STATES HAVE EMBRACED CRITICAL RACE THEORY

• On his first day in office, Biden rescinded President Trump’s executive order banning critical race theory training in the federal government.
• The Biden administration has begun to infuse critical race theory into its agenda.
  • Biden’s Department of Education wants to prioritize grant money for teaching critical race theory, citing the work of the 1619 Project and far-left radical Ibram X. Kendi.
  • This would bake critical race theory into the “whole of the federal government’s primary governing law concerning K-12 schools.” 
  • Prominent historians have said the 1619 Project is not credible, with one Pulitzer Prize-winning historian of the American Revolution Gordon Wood calling it “wrong in so many ways.” 
• Biden nominated Kiran Ahuja – who has promoted critical race theory – to serve as director of the Office of Personnel Management. 
• Democrat-run Washington state has mandated that school employees be trained in the principles of critical race theory, with Governor Jay Inslee signing legislation which promotes an “illiberal and intolerant ideology.”
• Meanwhile, Democrats’ nominee for Governor in Virginia, Terry McAuliffe, dismissed valid concerns from the state’s parents about critical race theory, baselessly calling it a “right wing conspiracy.”

CRITICAL RACE THEORY IS UNHINGED FROM REALITY 

• In Oregon, the Department of Education encouraged teachers to enroll in a program focused on undoing “racism in mathematics,” providing training highlighting “critical approaches to dismantling white supremacy in math classrooms.”
  • Mathematics – a subject based on “logical reasoning and quantitative calculation” – is under assault, with the Oregon program instead encouraging “ethnomathematics.” 
• In Virginia, Loudoun County Public Schools introduced an “equity student ambassador” program that originally restricted eligibility to non-white students.
  • While Loudoun County's superintendent denies that CRT is being taught, “a public records request and one of its school board member's comments indicated that the ideology influenced staff and policymaking.” 
• In New York, Buffalo Public Schools curriculum included materials teaching that “all white people play a part in perpetuating systemic racism.”
  • “In a lesson on ‘confronting whiteness in our classrooms,’ teachers ask white students to atone for their ‘white privilege’ and to ‘use their voices’ for the cause of antiracism.”

AWARE CRITICAL RACE THEORY IS BEING TAUGHT TO THEIR CHILDREN, PARENTS ARE PUSHING BACK

• Polling shows 74 percent of Americans are opposed to teaching that Black, Asian, Latino, and other Americans minorities are “inherently oppressed.”
  • 69 percent oppose teaching that America is fundamentally and inherently racist.
• Virginia parents are suing Loudoun County Public Schools over its infusion of critical race theory into the curriculum.
  • One Virginia mom who grew up in communist China during Mao Zedong’s Cultural Revolution blasted the school board for its support of critical race theory, drawing parallels between CRT and the Communist regime as using the “same ideology, same methodology, and even the same vocabulary.” 
• A Black Florida mother told the Florida State Board of Education that critical race theory “does not teach the truth” and is ruining the “greatest country in the world.” 
• In North Carolina, “hundreds” of parents attended the New Hanover County Board of Education meeting to express their concerns with critical race theory being taught in schools.

REPUBLICANS LEADERS ARE FIGHTING AGAINST CRITICAL RACE THEORY

• At least five states – all Republican led – signed legislation banning critical race theory in schools, and another 17 states have introduced such legislation.
• Idaho Governor Brad Little signed a bill that stops public school students from being indoctrinated with critical race theory, and Governors Kim Reynolds (IA), Greg Abbott (TX), Bill Lee (TN), and Kevin Stitt (OK) have all signed similar bills.
• Florida Governor Ron DeSantis successfully urged the State Board of Education to keep “Critical Race Theory out of the classroom,” and Georgia Governor Brian Kemp took similar action in his state.
