Biden Is Desperately Deflecting Blame As Gas Prices Reach Record Highs, Absurdly Trying To Rewrite History And Erase His Record Of Attacking U.S. Oil And Gas Production

BIDEN'S WAR ON AMERICAN ENERGY

• Since day one, Biden has waged war on American energy independence by suspending leases and reinstating harmful energy regulations.
  • Last year, Biden’s anti-American energy agenda cost the average American family over $1,000 while 20 percent of Americans reported struggling to pay their energy bill.
• Now, U.S. gas prices have reached their highest level ever recorded.
  • Under Biden, 31 states have hit new record high gas prices, and in 38 states, Americans are paying average prices above $4 per gallon.
  • U.S. gas prices rose 61 cents in one week, making this the largest 7 day rise in history.
  • In some parts of the country, gas prices are now over $7 a gallon.
• When asked about record high gas prices, Biden absurdly claimed that he “can’t do much right now” about it.
  • Labor Secretary Marty Walsh admitted that increasing American oil production isn’t “on the table.”
• To bring gas prices down, Biden needs to immediately unleash American energy.
  • American energy companies say Biden still hasn’t called them to produce more oil and that they are waiting for that nod before accelerating production.
  • 70 percent of likely voters “favor increased U.S. oil and gas production.”

THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION IS GASLIGHTING AMERICANS

• With gas prices on the rise, the Biden administration has attempted to deflect blame and gaslight Americans.
• When questioned about domestic energy production, the Biden administration has “pointed to the number of approved but untapped drilling permits” in an attempt to purposely mislead the public.
  • Mike Sommers, the CEO of the American Petroleum Institute: “Just because you have a lease doesn’t mean there’s actually oil and gas in that lease.”
  • Anne Bradbury, the CEO of the American Exploration and Production Council: “This claim shows a fundamental misunderstanding of how exploration and production works.” 
• Biden has also attempted to deceive Americans into believing he is pro-American energy by arguing that oil production in his first year was higher than in President Trump’s first year.
  • This is a “dumb line” that ignores the pandemic and “omits a key fact” that oil production in Biden’s first year was lower than in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
• Now, Biden wont “let a good crisis go to waste” as he uses Russia’s war against Ukraine to shift blame for rising gas prices.
  • Even before Russia invaded Ukraine, the average cost for a gallon of gas had risen by $1.14 under Biden thanks to his anti-American energy policies.
  • Before Biden took office, U.S. petroleum imports were at their lowest since 1991 – now under Biden, the U.S. is again expected to become a net importer of petroleum in 2022.

BIDEN SPENT THE LAST YEAR CRUSHING AMERICAN ENERGY

• On his first day in office, Biden cancelled the Keystone XL pipeline, killing 11,000 jobs.
  • On the same day, Biden reinstated Obama-era energy regulations and began the process of rolling back Trump-era regulations.
• The Biden administration has repeatedly suspended or halted oil and gas leases on federal lands, cutting off more potential U.S. oil and gas production.
  • Last month, the Biden administration indefinitely delayed planned oil and gas lease sales on public lands.
  • In June, the Biden administration suspended oil and gas leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).
  • In January 2021, Biden signed an executive order to halt oil and gas leasing on federal lands and waters.
• In November, the Biden administration announced multiple policies that targeted American made energy.
  • The administration proposed increasing royalty rates on domestic oil production and limiting areas available for development, which would ultimately make it more expensive to drill for oil and gas on public lands.
  • The administration admitted it was “studying” shutting down the Line 5 Pipeline in Michigan.
  • The administration announced new regulations for methane emissions which is expected to cost U.S. producers over $1 billion a year.
• Biden’s proposed FY2022 budget included $120 billion in new taxes targeting the U.S. fossil fuel industry in hopes of discouraging additional oil and gas development in the U.S.
• The Biden administration has left the door open to blocking even more U.S. oil and gas production.
  • Interior Secretary Deb Haaland suggested that she is open to a permanent ban on new oil and gas drilling on federal lands.
  • Last April, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm admitted the administration was “reviewing” a full fracking ban.
• Biden spent his entire campaign promising fossil fuels would be “eliminated” if elected, discouraging investment and creating uncertainty for producers.

FOREIGN OIL IS FLOURISHING UNDER BIDEN

• As president, Biden has continually prioritized foreign energy over American energy.
  • In May, Biden waved sanctions on Russia’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline even after admitting that the pipeline would “fundamentally destabilize Ukraine.”
  • In August, Biden begged OPEC to produce more oil.
  • In October, Biden said “it’s not right” for Russia and Saudi Arabia to not “pump more oil.”
• When asked about surging gas prices, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said the administration is working to “increase global oil production” but mentioned nothing about increasing American energy production.
• Instead of unleashing American energy, the Biden administration is now turning to “Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Venezuela” to ease domestic energy prices.

THE PAIN IS THE POINT

• This week, Biden said Russia’s war on Ukraine “should motivate us to accelerate a transition to clean energy.”
• It’s not just Biden, with his entire administration hinting that pain at the pump is the point of Biden’s war on American energy.
  • Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said that “we are in the middle of a long-term transformation” and that the solution to rising gas prices is “electric vehicles.”
  • White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said that “the rise in gas prices over the long term makes an even stronger case for doubling down on” radical green energy policies.
  • Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, when discussing rising gas prices, said “we’re working through an energy transition … the reality is we have to take some time to get off of oil and gas.”

THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION IS OUT OF TOUCH

• Last week, Psaki dismissed policies designed to unleash American energy production claiming that they would “not address the issue” of rising gas prices.
• In February, when gas prices were at a seven-year-high, Psaki tried to give Biden credit for gas prices previously going down by “about ten cents.”
• In February, Biden joked saying “did you ever thing you’d be paying this much for a gallon of gas?”
• In December, Biden claimed credit for gas prices and insisted, “we’re making progress, were going to keep at it.”
• In November, Granholm laughed when asked about Biden’s plans to bring gas prices down.
• In October, Psaki downplayed rising gas prices, claiming they were only going up “in some parts of the country, not all.”

AMERICANS KNOW WHO IS TO BLAME: BIDEN

• Americans are hurting from Biden’s failed policies and know that he is to blame.
• A frustrated Michigan resident said, “I’m just totally disgusted with what’s going on with the whole leadership of our country,” saying that the Biden administration is “to blame” for record high gas prices.
• Jimmie Lewis, a Mississippi driver, said that gas prices under Biden are “ridiculous.”
• An upset Florida resident blamed Biden for shutting down the Keystone XL pipeline, adding that “now we depend on everyone else and their countries to supply our gas” which “seems a little bit ridiculous.”
• Texan James Brown said that record high gas prices under Biden has “taken a toll on just about everybody.”
• A Massachusetts resident said that he is “sick to [his] stomach” and that “you think back two to three years ago, we were self-efficient. We didn’t have to buy oil or gas, now things have gone just in the opposite energy direction … They’re killing the working man.”
• Mohammed, a Pennsylvania resident said, “life is more difficult right now ” due to record gas prices.
