As The Crisis At The Border Gets Worse, The Biden Administration Sits Back And Does Nothing

THE CRISIS AT THE BORDER IS GETTING WORSE

• In March, the number of migrants crossing into the United States reached its highest level in 15 years, with 172,331 migrants apprehended.
  • The surge was so large that it did not fit on the y-axis of the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) chart used to track monthly enforcement data.
  • This is not seasonal, with March border apprehensions under the Biden administration more than three times higher than the Trump administration March average.
• Of the over 170,000 migrants taken into custody in March, 18,890 were unaccompanied minors.
  • This was the “largest monthly number ever tallied.”
• The Biden administration is now spending at least $60 million per week to shelter unaccompanied minors, with the cost “expected to rise significantly over the coming months.”
  • With an average 31 days in HHS custody, the government is spending about $24,000 per minor to house them at temporary shelters.
• Currently, the government is at “103 percent of capacity” with more than 20,000 unaccompanied minors in its care.
  • Government projections show there could be more than 35,000 migrant children to be cared for by June.
  • CBP projects that as many as 184,000 unaccompanied children could reach the border this fiscal year.

CHILDREN ARE SUFFERING AS A RESULT OF BIDEN’S POLICIES

• On average, unaccompanied migrant children are being held in CBP facilities for 122 hours, far above the 72-hour legal limit.
• There is “zero social distancing” inside a Donna, Texas temporary holding facility.
  • Hundreds of children are being jammed into pods intended for fewer than 50, with “many of the pods [holding] more than 500 children.”
  • Children are having to lay down “shoulder to shoulder” with crumpled aluminum blankets for cover.
  • The Donna facility is at more than 16 times its capacity.
• Migrant children crossing the border are bringing the coronavirus, “in one instance 17 of 17 testing positive.”
  • Children are not being tested for coronavirus unless they exhibit symptoms.
• Young children are being dropped over the border wall.

THE SAFETY OF AMERICANS IS BEING JEOPARDIZED

• The Biden administration is releasing migrant families caught crossing the border without a court notice, or “sometimes without any paperwork at all.”
• Experts say an estimated 1,000 illegal immigrants are now sneaking into the United States every day without being pursued.
• Migrants on the terrorism watchlist have been caught illegally crossing the border.
• Mexico’s government has raised concern that Biden’s immigration policies are “creating business for organized crime.”
• The Biden administration has blocked the American public from knowing the full extent of the crisis, continuing to deny media access.

THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION IS DOING NOTHING TO TACKLE THIS CRISIS

• It has been 21 days since Kamala Harris was named Biden’s “point person” on the immigration crisis, and she has yet to visit the border.
• Despite the border crisis continuing to escalate, last week Biden released a budget in which he nixed funding for the border wall.
  • The budget also would stop previously allocated and unused funds from going to the wall.
• Migrants say Biden’s lax enforcement policies and rhetoric are the reason they are coming to the United States illegally.
