Biden’s Failures Have Left The Prairie State With Rising Crime, Higher Prices, And A Supply Chain Crisis

BIDEN WANTS TO BUILD ILLINOIS BACK BROKE

• Today, Biden is visiting Chicago to speak at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers convention to tout his radical agenda that has cost thousands of jobs amid historic price increases.
  • Biden is also visiting Kanakee farm to discuss food supply shortages which have impacted families across the United States.
• Under Biden and Democrats, Chicago communities are less safe, nearly everything costs more, and businesses are struggling to recover.
• Illinois voters know that Biden and Democrats are to blame for their suffering.
  • Just 43 percent of Illinois residents approve of Biden.
  • Only 13 percent of Chicago residents approve of Lori Lightfoot, the Democrat mayor of Chicago.

CRIME IS ON THE RISE ACROSS CHICAGO

• Biden’s trip to Chicago comes as the city has experienced a violent crime surge under Democrat leadership.
  • Biden and his administration have done nothing to solve the crime wave and instead has surrounded himself with defund the police supporters.
• After calls by Democrat Mayor Lori Lightfoot to defunded the police, Lightfoot “pled with the feds to help with rampant crime” after Chicago experienced its deadliest year in over two decades.
  • Officer morale in the Chicago Police Department sunk to “new lows” after Democrat calls to defund the police.
• Chicago has seen more shootings this past April than the same periods in 2020 and 2019.
  • Just a few weeks ago, at least eight people were killed in just two days.
  • Last weekend, “over a 48-hour period, three different shootings occurred” within a mile of each other.
• Crime has exploded in just the last few months around the city, with thefts up 70 percent, burglaries up 36 percent, and motor vehicle thefts up 43 percent.

RISING PRICES HURT FAMILIES ACROSS ILLINOIS

• As Illinois families and small businesses are suffering from surging crime, Democrats’ inflationary agenda has added to the pain felt across the state.
• Nationally, April’s Consumer Price Index surged by 8.3 percent compared to last year.
  • Illinois has seen costs rise, with consumer prices in the Midwest rising by 8.2 percent since last year.
  • Inflation is costing the average Illinois family $594 per month according to an estimate from Congress’ Joint Economic Committee.
• Today, the average gas price in Illinois hit a new record high of $4.79 a gallon – among the highest in the nation. 
• Used car prices in Illinois, a key inflation indicator, rose 31 percent – or $8,250 – since last year.
• Because of rising prices, real wages for Illinois workers are falling and their paychecks are worth less.

DEMOCRATS HAVE FAILED ILLINOIS

• Biden and Democrats radical agenda has failed Illinois families.
• Illinois has the 6^th highest unemployment rate in the country and ranks 39^th in jobs recovered from the pandemic.
• Democrats are driving businesses out of the state as Illinois ranks 48^th in property taxes, among the highest in the nation.
  • After 21 years, Boeing is moving its Chicago headquarters to Republican-controlled Virginia, fleeing failed Democrat leadership.
• Illinois has experienced an “exodus” as it ranks second in states with the largest population loss due to “the lack of job opportunities and high taxes.”
  • From July 2020 to July 2021, more residents of Illinois fled the state “than any other year in recorded history.”
  • The population decline is so extreme that Illinois loses one resident roughly every 4 minutes.

BIDEN HURTS ILLINOIS FARMERS  

• With inflation at a 40-year high, farmers are struggling to “just break even” as production costs outpace commodity prices and Biden continues to do nothing to solve the crisis.
• American farmers are seeing “increased costs across the board,” from fertilizer and pesticides to equipment repairs and seasonal labor.
• 30 percent of farmers experienced difficulty purchasing crop inputs due to Biden’s supply chain crisis according to Purdue’s Center for Commercial Agriculture. 
  • Glyphosate, the active ingredient in in one of America’s most widely used weed killers, is up 250 percent from a year ago in part because of “supply chain challenges” Biden promised to fix. 
• Biden has imposed burdensome regulations on American farmers and ranchers by expanding the federal government’s definition of the Waters of the United States (WOTUS) Rule.
  • The Illinois Farm Bureau, American Farm Bureau Federation, and the National Cattleman’s Beef Association have spoken out against this rule expansion due to its negative effects on farmers.
• Biden proposed a death tax that would disproportionately hurt family-owned farms and make it harder to pass family farms down to the next generation.
  • Biden’s new death tax would kill 80,000 jobs, lower workers’ wages, and shrink the U.S. economy by $100 billion over ten years.
