Under Biden, Pennsylvania Workers And Businesses Are Seeing Higher Prices And Fewer Jobs

PENNSYLVANIANS REJECT BIDEN’S POLICIES

• Today Joe Biden is in Scranton, Pennsylvania to try to sell his far-left “Build Back Broke” agenda.
• It’s no wonder Biden is desperately trying to build support for his failed policies in the Keystone state; 69 percent of Pennsylvanians believe the country is on the “wrong track” under Biden.
• Together, Biden and Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf (D) want to kill American economic independence and send Pennsylvania jobs abroad. 
  • Wolf praised Biden’s unconstitutional vaccine mandate and has himself proposed exorbitant tax increases that target workers and families.  

BIDEN WANTS PENNSYLVANIA TO “BUILD BACK BROKE”

• On the campaign trail, Biden repeatedly promised, “I’m not going to shut down the economy. I’m going to shut down the virus.”
• Since then, Biden has overseen historic price hikes and weak job growth that robs Pennsylvanians of their wages and work. 
• Prices are up for nearly everything, including kitchen staples like eggs (12.6 percent), pork (12.7 percent) and fresh fruit (5.0 percent).
  • The average price of gas in Scranton is just over $3.50 a gallon – a 42 percent spike from last October.
  • Joan Longworth, owner of Longworth’s Restaurant in Scranton: “The majority of meats are up anywhere from 20 to 50 percent. Bacon is up 50 percent since the beginning of the year.”
  • Roseanne Rukse, Pennsylvania resident: “Boneless chicken breast. Forget it. Really high, very, very high.”
  • Lisa Cohowicz, general manager of the Northeast Pennsylvania Auto Association, on high vehicle prices: “Yes, yes they’re outrageous.”
• Biden’s proposed “Build Back Broke” agenda would crush Pennsylvanians with $176 billion more in new debt and kill 208,000 jobs in Pennsylvania communities over the next decade.
  • Biden’s tax plan will cost every Pennsylvanian, on average, $6,788 more in taxes from 2022 to 2031. 
  • Biden’s American Bankruptcy Plan would hike the capital gains tax higher than it is in communist China and would rob future generations and hurt family-owned farms for decades to come.

BIDEN’S ANTI-ENERGY POLICIES TARGET PENNSYLVANIA WORKERS

• Biden’s anti-energy policies are an attack on Pennsylvania’s energy workers and businesses, which are vital to the state’s economy. 
  • In 2019, the oil and gas industry contributed nearly $80 billion to Pennsylvania's economy and made it the second-largest natural gas producer in the United States. 
• On the campaign trail, Biden said he would make sure fracking is “eliminated,” which would cost Pennsylvania’s economy $261 billion and Pennsylvania households $114 billion. 
• On his first day in office, Biden killed thousands of Keystone XL Pipeline jobs.
  • Pennsylvania Manufactures’ Association President and CEO, David N. Taylor: “Biden’s first moves as President reveal his top priorities, which bodes ill for Pennsylvania’s role as a global energy leader.”
• As gas prices across America surged to their highest level in seven years, Biden begged foreign countries to pump more oil – a slap in the face to thousands of Pennsylvanian workers. 
• Governor Wolf embraces Biden’s job-killing energy policies, announcing his own Climate Action Plan to have a “carbon-free electric gid by 2050.”
  • Leo Knepper of Citizens Alliance of Pennsylvania: “Wolf is living in some sort of an alternative reality if he thinks that something like a zero-carbon energy grid is desirable or realistic for Pennsylvania.”

BIDEN IS FAILING PENNSYLVANIA MANUFACTURERS

• Earlier this year, 1,000 Pennsylvanian union workers lost their jobs when U.S. Steel announced its plans to cancel a $1.5 billion investment in Mon Valley Works after an activist campaign funded by the Heinz Endowments, which is tied to John Kerry’s family.
• Under Biden, Pennsylvania workers are seeing their jobs shipped to foreign countries.
  • Windkits LLC, a maker of wind turbine blades based in Macungie, is closing its Lehigh Valley manufacturing plant and shifting the work to Mexico, putting 63 Pennsylvanians out of work.
  • Lehigh Valley’s Dixie Cup plant blames outsourcing work to China as its reason for closing and putting 190 Pennsylvanians out of work.
  • Commercial data provider Dun & Bradstreet, which employs hundreds in the Lehigh Valley, is moving some operations to India.
  • Appvion, a paper manufacturing company, is closing its doors for good in Blair County, resulting in a loss of 293 jobs.
