Under Biden’s Failed Policies, Pennsylvanians Are Facing Skyrocketing Prices, Empty Shelves, And Fewer Energy Jobs

BIDEN HAS A HISTORY OF LYING TO AND INSULTING PENNSYLVANIA WORKERS

• Today Biden travels to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to discuss revitalizing manufacturing, supply chains, and infrastructure.
• In reality, Biden has overseen a swirl of crises affecting Pennsylvanians: inflation at a nearly 40-year high, falling real wages, a snarled supply chain, and historic crime rates.
• Despite these crises, Biden continues to push his “Build Back Broke” agenda, falsely claiming that it will not add to inflation, is “fully paid for,” and will not raise taxes on middle-class families across the Keystone State. 
  • Economists across the aisle warn the bill would “fuel inflation,” slam the middle class, and is not “paid for.”
• Biden has a long history of lying and pandering to Pennsylvanians:
  • In August 1987, Biden claimed his ancestors worked in coal mines in Northeast Pennsylvania – only later to admit it was a lie, but still continue to tell it.
  • In September 2021, Biden lied about visiting the Pittsburgh Tree of Life synagogue after the 2018 mass shooting.
• Voters in Biden’s hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania describe him as a “typical career politician” who “does not speak for me.”

BIDENFLATION IS SLAMMING PENNSYLVANIANS

• December’s Consumer Price Index rose by 7 percent compared to last year – the largest annual increase in nearly 40 years.
  • In the Mid-Atlantic region, consumer prices rose by 5.8 percent.
  • In Pennsylvania, gas now costs over $3.50 a gallon – higher than the national average and up 30 percent from a year ago.
  • Rising prices are costing families $3,500 extra a year.
• Biden and Governor Tom Wolf’s far-left policies have smothered Pennsylvania’s recovery, with one in four jobs yet to be recovered in the Keystone State.
  • Pennsylvania has one of the top ten highest unemployment rates in the nation.
• Even Kamala Harris admitted that the inflation and supply chain crises are “a big issue for Western Pennsylvania, throughout the nation, and actually a global issue.”
• While higher prices are already slamming the Keystone State, Biden tried to ruin the livelihoods of Pennsylvania workers and businesses with his vaccine mandates.

BIDEN’S ATTACK ON DOMESTIC ENERGY HINDERS PENNSYLVANIA’S ECONOMY

• With Pennsylvania’s economy already under attack, Biden’s past comments on fracking worry Pennsylvania business owners and workers who rely on energy jobs.
• On his first day in office, Biden killed thousands of Keystone XL Pipeline jobs and Keystone XL workers are still struggling after being laid-off.
  • Pennsylvania Manufactures’ Association President and CEO, David N. Taylor: “Biden’s first moves as President reveal his top priorities, which bodes ill for Pennsylvania’s role as a global energy leader.”
• Last year, 1,000 Pennsylvania union workers lost their jobs when U.S. Steel announced its plans to cancel a $1.5 billion investment in Mon Valley Works after an activist campaign funded by the Heinz Endowments, which is tied to John Kerry’s family.
  • In November 2021, U.S. steel imports jumped to $3.6 billion – with increases “primarily with Russia.”
• Under Biden’s watch, there are now nearly 6,000 less workers employed in Pennsylvania’s oil and gas industry, with Pennsylvania workers seeing their jobs shipped to foreign countries.
  • Windkits LLC, a maker of wind turbine blades based in Macungie, closed its Lehigh Valley manufacturing plant and is shifting the work to Mexico, putting 63 Pennsylvanians out of work.
  • Lehigh Valley’s Dixie Cup plant blames outsourcing work to China as its reason for closing and putting 190 Pennsylvanians out of work.
  • Commercial data provider Dun & Bradstreet, which employs hundreds in the Lehigh Valley, has moved some operations to India.
  • Appvion, a paper manufacturing company, is closed its doors for good in Blair County, resulting in a loss of 293 jobs.

PENNSYLVANIA FAMILIES ARE SUFFERING FROM BIDEN’S INCOMPETENCE

• Biden has failed to deliver on his promise to provide relief from supply chain bottlenecks – rather than solve the problem, an increasing number of cargo ships are now simply waiting farther out at sea to get to port.
• The supply chain issue fueled by Biden’s inaction is affecting Pennsylvanians in every corner of the state.
  • Local business owners – like the Charley family who own three Shop ‘n Save stores in Westmoreland – said Biden’s supply chain crisis is something that they are “fighting every day.”
• With empty shelves and high prices, many Pennsylvanians are struggling to feed their family.
  • One Philadelphia shopper said, “I went to two, three different stores over the last couple of days to see it's just not here. It's everywhere and the prices are up like sky high.”
  • West Chester resident Anita Edgarian blamed Biden for empty shelves posting, “that store is remodeling for Build Back Better” and then asked “when are we going to get our ration books?”
  • York resident Sherry Baade said she feels like she lives in the “Soviet Union” and food is being “rationed out.”
• On top of supply shortages and a minimized workforce, Biden is now requiring foreign truckers to be vaccinated – which will likely further cripple already snarled supply chains across the country, including in Pennsylvania.
