Biden And Democrats’ Far-Left Agenda Puts Maine Families, Businesses, And Workers Last

MAINERS ARE SEEING THE RESULTS OF FAILED DEMOCRAT LEADERSHIP

  • Today, Biden is visiting Maine to absurdly brag about his failed “Bidenomics” agenda, which has cost the middle class $2.4 trillion since March 2022.
  • Biden’s visit to the Pine Tree State comes as Mainers face higher prices on just about everything – with Biden’s radical tax-and-spend agenda directly to blame.
    • Out-of-touch Democrat Gov. Janet Mills dismissed Mainer’s concerns about inflation as just a “distraction.”
  • Faced with a drug and crime crisis, Mainers are left frustrated and overwhelmed.
  • Only 44 percent of Mainers approve of the job Biden is doing.

BIDENOMICS IS ROBBING MAINERS OF THEIR HARD-EARNED MONEY

  • Prices have risen by 6 percent since Biden took office – with Mainers still reeling from the lasting effects of inflation.
    • According to Congress’ Joint Economic Committee, inflation has cost the average Maine family over $7,400 since Biden took office.
  • Maine’s average gas prices currently sit at $3.73 per gallon, which is roughly $1.25 higher than when Biden became president.
    • Last year, Maine’s average gas and diesel prices both hit new record highs under Biden.
      • Janet Mills’ answer to Mainers upset with higher gas prices is to insist they buy an electric car.
    • These higher fuel costs, as well as bait prices, have led to a slower year for Maine lobstermen.
  • Mainers, who overwhelmingly rely on oil to heat their homes, were stuck with exceptionally high heating bills this past winter.
    • Maine expects to approve 15 to 20 percent more applications for heating assistance as a result.
  • The median sale price of a home in Maine is up 6 percent from just a year ago.
    • In Cumberland County, the median selling price recently reached a historic high, up 9.6 percent since last year.
  • In order to stay afloat in Biden’s economy, many restaurants in Maine are adding “kitchen wellness” fees to all guest checks.

DEMOCRATS’ PRO-CRIMINAL AGENDA PUTS MAINERS AT RISK

  • Biden’s visit to Maine comes as the state is experiencing a surge in violent crime. Last year:
    • The state of Maine saw 32 people killed in homicides – the most since 1989.
    • Shootings in Portland doubled from 2021, with multiple murders and shootings occurring in well-trafficked areas at the heart of the city.
  • In York County, catalytic converter thefts are now happening weekly.
  • Pro-crime policies have been embraced in Maine, with the state passing a new law in 2021 that eliminated cash bail for most minor charges.
  • Biden and his administration have done nothing to solve the crime wave and Biden has surrounded himself with defund the police supporters.
  • This has caused a lack of respect for our men and women in blue, with police departments seeing a drop in staffing as a result.
  • Thanks to open border policies championed by Biden and Democrats, Mainers are facing a drug crisis across their state.
    • Last year, Maine saw a 5 percent increase in opioid overdose deaths, with nearly 80 percent caused by fentanyl.
    • Fatal drug overdoses have nearly doubled under Gov. Janet Mills, yet she supports a taxpayer-funded organization that hands out free crack pipes in the state.

MAINERS CAN’T TRUST DEMOCRAT POLICIES

  • Democrat leadership has failed to bring jobs back after the pandemic, with the state ranking 34th nationally for jobs recovered.
  • According to a report by CNBC, Maine is the 12th worst state for business.
    • Breaking it down by category, Maine has the 13th worst economy and has the worst infrastructure of any state.
  • Maine ranked 31st for getting children back to in-person school during the 2020-2021 school year, while 19 of the top 20 states were led by Republicans.
    • Democrat school closures have had a devastating impact on children, with Maine students performing the worst they’ve done in roughly 30 years on national math and reading tests.
  • These failures have led Mainers to reject Democrat leadership.
