THE HORRIFIC CONSEQUENCE OF BIDEN’S BOTCHED WITHDRAWAL – AMERICA IS LESS SAFE, OUR ALLIES LEFT FOR DEAD

• As Afghanistan is falling to the Taliban, the U.S. Embassy in Kabul was evacuated, even though Biden explicitly said this would not happen just last month. 
• Afghans that helped America and our military are being executed in the streets.
  • The Biden administration is not moving fast enough to evacuate and relocate America’s Afghan allies who are currently at risk of “lethal Taliban reprisals.”
  • Thousands of Afghan civilians are attempting to flee, with many desperately rushing to Kabul international airport but finding no refuge.
• Because of the botched withdrawal, the Taliban has seized helicopters, Humvees, Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles (MRAPs), drones, and even “anti-aircraft guns, armored tanks, and artillery.”
• The Taliban has now overrun the Bagram Airfield prison that housed 5,000 inmates. 
  • Al Qaeda and Taliban members were among the thousands of prisoners released.
  • The Biden administration abandoned the airfield in the middle of the night last month without telling the Afghan military.
  • The Taliban also took over Kandahar central jail, freeing hundreds of prisoners who have now joined their ranks. 
• U.S. defense officials are worried that the Taliban takeover will give Al Qaeda a safe haven and allow them to rebuild.
• As Biden signaled his withdrawal, China stepped in and is now getting ready to recognize the Taliban, strengthening its ties and growing its influence. 

IN THE MIDDLE OF A CRISIS, BIDEN IS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND

• While the Taliban takes over Afghanistan, Biden continues his summer vacation at Camp David, hiding from the consequences of his failure.
  • Instead of addressing the nation or facing the press to answer for his failed handling of Afghanistan, the White House says Biden will not speak publicly until sometime in “the next few days.”
  • The Taliban held a press conference from the presidential palace in Kabul before President Biden held one from the White House. 

THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION REPEATEDLY SAID THIS WOULD NOT HAPPEN

• The Taliban has taken Afghanistan without much of a fight.
  • The Biden administration reportedly refused to allow contractor maintenance crews into Afghanistan to service aircraft in the country’s Air Force, effectively grounding
• On multiple occasions, the Biden administration promised the American people there was no imminent threat to the city of Kabul and the United States Embassy.
  • In June, Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated, “We are staying, the embassy is staying … I would not necessarily equate the departure of forces in July, August, or by early September with some immediate deterioration in the situation.”
  • In July, Biden said “There’s going to be no circumstance where you see people being lifted off the roof of a embassy in the — of the United States from Afghanistan . . . the likelihood there’s going to be the Taliban overrunning everything and owning the whole country is highly unlikely.”
  • Less than 48 hours before the fall of Kabul, Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said “There is no intention right now to close the embassy . . . The situation in Kabul is calm right now.”
• Last week, Biden stated “I do not regret my decision” when questioned about Afghanistan.

• The recent Taliban takeover of Afghanistan follows a series of other crises Biden has overseen, including a 21-year high in illegal immigration, historic price spikes, and rising crime.
• The Biden administration has been caught flat-footed, with President Obama’s U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan Ryan Crocker calling Biden’s handling of Afghanistan “an indelible stain on his presidency.”
• This is just the latest in Biden’s extensive record of foreign policy failures.
  • Obama Defense Secretary Bob Gates said Biden “has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades,” and in 2019, Gates said he still stood by his statement. 
• Biden has already added to his dismal foreign policy record by:
  • Opening our borders to historic levels of illegal immigration.
  • Increasing Russia’s geopolitical strength by waiving sanctions on Putin’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline while failing to stand up to Russia’s cyber aggression.
  • Blocking American energy production while pleading with OPEC to increase oil production.
  • Refusing to demand answers from China on COVID-19’s origins, even as China continues to block additional investigations.
  • Failing to stand with the Cuban people as they take to the streets to demand freedom from the island’s communist regime.
  • Abandoning our ally Israel while lifting sanctions on Iran.
