Biden Has Spent The Past Two Weeks Repeatedly Misleading The American People On The Afghanistan Crisis

BIDEN HAS ATTEMPTED TO COVER UP HIS AFGHANISTAN CRISIS

• Biden is responsible for the chaotic, dangerous withdrawal from Afghanistan, and is now hiding from it.
• Instead of being transparent and providing answers to basic questions regarding his botched withdrawal, Biden has turned his back on Americans.
  • He attempted to spin this foreign policy disaster as a “success” despite 13 U.S. service members killed and hundreds of Americans stranded behind enemy lines.

BIDEN LIED ABOUT THE WITHDRAWAL

• Biden falsely claimed his administration was “ready” when Kabul fell to the Taliban.
  • Americans had to be evacuated by helicopter from the U.S. embassy and now hundreds of Americans remain stranded in Afghanistan.
• Biden said that a withdrawal “without pain and loss and heartbreaking images you see on television” was impossible and that it could not “have been done in a more orderly manner.”
  • In April, Biden promised to withdraw “responsibly, deliberately, and safely.”

BIDEN LIED ABOUT AMERICANS BEING IN DANGER

• Biden falsely claimed that Americans were able to get to the airport in Kabul, saying “We’ve made an agreement with the, with the Taliban. Thus far, they’ve allowed them to go through.”
  • Hours after Biden made this statement, his State Department spokesman had to walk it back, saying “I don’t think anyone is denying the reports” of Americans not able to get to the Kabul airport.
  • Biden’s Defense Sec. Lloyd Austin on Americans trying to leave Afghanistan: “We’re also aware that some people, including Americans, have been harassed and even beaten by the Taliban.”
  • CNN reporter Clarissa Ward: “Anyone who says that any American can get in here is — yes, I mean, technically, it’s possible. But it’s extremely difficult, and it is dangerous.”
• Biden originally claimed that Al Qaeda is “gone” from Afghanistan, but the Pentagon later confirmed that the terrorist organization is still there.
  • Al Qaeda remains present in at least 15 Afghan provinces, with their relationship with the Taliban “cordial and stronger than in the pre-9/11 period.”
• Biden claimed “there’s not many [Americans] left,” minimizing the roughly 1,000 Americans that were still stranded in Afghanistan at the time.
