David Chipman Is A Gun Control Extremist, Attacking Law-Abiding Gun Owners And The Second Amendment Instead Of Criminals

BIDEN NOMINATED A GUN CONTROL EXTREMIST TO LEAD THE ATF

• Biden nominated gun control lobbyist David Chipman to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
• Chipman’s nomination shows that Biden is committed to a far-left gun control agenda.

CHIPMAN DOES NOT RESPECT GUN-OWNERS

• Chipman has little respect or understanding for Americans who want to exercise their Constitutionally protected right to own a gun.
  • Chipman looks down on gun owners, comparing these Americans to people who “want a muscle car” so they can have “outsized power.”
  • Chipman: “I think there’s also an element for people who chose not to serve [in the military] that this somehow allows them to connect with that service without them having to do it — like you can kind of act patriotic without having to do it.”
• Chipman believes people own guns because they’re “afraid” and want to “feel safe.”
• Chipman mocked first-time gun owners last year, suggesting they were doomsday preppers and comparing them to “Tiger King.”
  • Chipman: Gun owners should “secure that gun locked and unloaded and hide it behind the cans of tuna and beef jerky that you’ve stored in a cabinet and only bring that out if the zombies start to appear.”
  • Chipman: “They might think that they’re die-hard, ready to go, but unfortunately they’re more like Tiger King.”  
• Chipman has suggested that some people should be arrested even before they commit a crime, but is bizarrely open to reinstating felons’ ability to own a gun after they are released from prison.

CHIPMAN WANTS RADICAL GUN CONTROL POLICIES

• Chipman is an advocate for “federal authorities” to take charge of a “national comprehensive” gun control approach that would supersede state gun laws.
• Chipman said that many commonly owned semi-automatic rifles should be regulated “just like machine guns.” 
• Chipman claims he wants to ban “assault weapons,” but he can’t even define what an “assault weapon” is.
  • Chipman not only wants to ban the sale of these common rifles, he wants to ban the manufacturing of them.
• Chipman has advocated for banning all private gun sales.
• Nearly two dozen wildlife conservation and sportsmen’s groups oppose Chipman’s nomination due to “his long record of radical anti-firearm statements and actions.”
  • Many of these groups have never objected to an ATF nominee before.

CHIPMAN’S RECORD AT THE ATF RAISES SERIOUS QUESTIONS

• Senators on the Judiciary Committee have received information suggesting that Chipman misplaced or lost his service weapon when he was at the ATF.
• Chipman allegedly made a racially charged comment in 2007, saying to multiple coworkers “wow, there were an unusually large number of African American agents that passed the exam this time. They must have been cheating.”
  • Chipman’s comment “spread like wildfire” at the ATF.
