April Border Crossings Remain At Their Highest Level In Two Decades
BIDEN’S BORDER CRISIS RAGES ON
- Border apprehensions continued to rise in April, with 178,622 migrants caught trying to cross the U.S.-Mexico border.
- Of the over 178,000 migrants taken into custody in April, 17,171 were unaccompanied minors.
- Just 35 percent of family units were expelled in April, disproving Biden’s claim that the “vast majority of the families” crossing the border illegally are being sent back.
- The Biden administration attempted to bury these numbers by releasing them after hours and with no notice to media.
BORDER AND IMMIGRATION OFFICIALS ARE OVERWHELMED
- While border crossings are at a 20-year high, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deportations have fallen to the lowest level on record.
- This is a direct result of the restrictions Biden has put on ICE.
- According to projections from border officials, there are currently 1,500 illegal immigrants entering the U.S. every day due to agents being overwhelmed with high levels of crossings.
- That is a 50 percent increase from the estimated 1,000 per day last month.
- Border agents are “stretched so thin” that Texas sheriff’s deputies must “do the job of the federal government.”
- While the Biden administration is declaring victory, claiming that overcrowded detention facilities are no longer a problem, they have simply shifted the problem to HHS facilities which are now nearing capacity.
- Texas Democrat Rep. Henry Cuellar said that the Biden administration is engaged in a “shell game” to hide the problem.
- The number of migrant children in government custody more than doubled in the past two months.
- It is projected that nearly 184,000 migrant children will cross the border by the end of FY 2021, which would be the highest number ever.
- The Biden administration estimates it will need another $4 billion before the end of FY 2021 for migrant care.
THE BORDER CRISIS IS A HUMANITARIAN CRISIS
- Heartbreaking firsthand accounts of those traveling across the border describe the horrors of human smuggling, sexual assault, and violence.
- A 2020 study found that of 480 Central Americans interviewed, nearly 60 percent were exposed to some sort of violence during their trek through Mexico.
- Recently, five young migrant girls—each under the age of seven—were found abandoned, hungry, and crying by a Texas farmer.
- Captured on video, two young girls were dropped by smugglers over a 14-foot-wall.
- Border Patrol are finding small children who are left to fend for themselves, which one Patrol Agent says “happens far too often now.”
- Tens of thousands of migrant children are currently being held in an “opaque network of some 200 facilities” throughout twenty-four states.
- There are reports of children coming out sick and infested with lice.
BIDEN AND HARRIS ARE TO BLAME FOR THIS CRISIS, AND ARE DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT
- Biden named Harris as his crisis manager for the border, but she is nowhere to be found, having gone 49 days without visiting the border or holding a news conference.
- The border crisis and its devastation are a direct result of Biden’s reckless open border policies.
- A majority of Americans disapprove of Biden’s handling of the border crisis.
