Biden’s Criminal Negligence

Today, after being silent for his first five months in office and failing to take action, Joe Biden will finally address the spike in violent crime across America.
- After Democrat-run cities defunded police departments last year, America has seen a dramatic spike in crime, heightened anti-law enforcement rhetoric, and emboldened criminals.

CRIMINALS ARE THE PROBLEM, BUT BIDEN WANTS TO TARGET GUN OWNERS

Instead of addressing the problem, Biden plans to use this tragedy to justify taking guns away from law-abiding citizens.
However, there has been a rise in all crime across the United States – not just shootings.
- In Atlanta, rape, assault, and vehicle thefts have increased by more than 30 percent compared to last year.
- In Kenosha, more than 35 small businesses were destroyed, and around 80 damaged in 2020.
- In Washington D.C., carjackings rose 141 percent in 2020.
- In San Francisco, car burglaries are up 138 percent in the Central District compared to this time last year.
Former Detroit Police Chief James Craig: “We don’t have a gun problem in the country, what we have is a criminal problem.”

BIDEN HAS TURNED HIS BACK ON OUR NATION’S LAW ENFORCEMENT

During his campaign, Biden was weak when cities and communities saw rioting, violence, arson, and looting take hold.
Biden failed to stand up to the radicals in his own party who pushed defunding the police.
Because Biden failed to back the police, numerous law enforcement groups broke with Biden, instead endorsing President Trump for a second term.

BIDEN SURROUNDED HIMSELF WITH DEFUND THE POLICE ACTIVISTS

Biden’s Vice President Kamala Harris supports “reimagining” the police, saying putting “more police on the streets” is not the way to make communities safer.
- Harris encouraged donations to the “Minnesota Freedom Fund,” which bailed out people charged with murder, violent felonies and sex crimes.
Biden’s U.S. Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta supported the defund the police movement last summer.
- Gupta: “It is also critical for state and local leaders to heed calls from Black Lives Matter and Movement for Black Lives activists to decrease police budgets and the scope, role, and responsibility of police in our lives.”
Biden’s U.S. Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division Kristen Clarke wrote an op-ed last summer where she repeatedly called for defunding cops, saying “we must invest less in police.”
Biden’s Labor Secretary Marty Walsh actually defunded the police when he was Mayor of Boston, stripping $12 million from the city’s police budget.
Biden’s HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge advocated for defunding the police, saying “we need to be looking at it.”

DEFUNDING THE POLICE AND DEMOCRATS’ HOSTILITY TO COPS HAS LED TO SPIKES IN CRIME

Democrats and their allies are trying to deflect blame for the rise in crime, desperately trying to fault Trump, coronavirus re-openings, and even law enforcement.
- The Fraternal Order of Police has said it is “gaslighting” for liberal politicians to blame cops, and other law enforcement organizations have slammed anti-police activists for the policies that have led to higher crime.
Radical Democrat-run cities did nothing to support law enforcement, but instead cut police department funding by the millions.
One year after the Democrats’ defund the police movement took hold, cities are walking back efforts to strip police funding after crime rates have sharply risen.
- This about-face comes after months of anti-police rhetoric – a disgrace to the courageous and selfless law enforcement officers across our nation.
- Fewer than one in five Americans support defunding the police.
Amid rising crime, Democrat-controlled cities are now refunding police.
- Minneapolis cut $8 million from its police department, later refunding $6.4 million back after complaints of slow response times and an increase in crime.
- Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott (D) campaigned on cutting the police budget by $22 million, but has now proposed a $27 million
- Los Angeles slashed the LAPD budget by $150 million last summer, but the LA County Metropolitan Transit Authority has now voted to boost contracts with law enforcement by $36 million.
