CHILD CARE IS MORE EXPENSIVE UNDER BIDEN

• This school year, Democrats are trying to force radical curriculum onto kids while hardworking parents struggle to afford child care, school supplies, and groceries.
• Raising a child to the age of 17 now costs the average family over $310,000 – up more than $26,000 in just two years.
  • This increase is forcing many Americans to “think twice” before having children.
• For many low-income families that have already been cutting costs, there’s “nothing left to cut out.”

PARENTS FACE RISING TUITION AND LONGER WAITLISTS FOR DAY CARE

• Thanks to Bidenflation, parents are getting slammed with soaring tuition and growing waitlists for child care.
  • 63 percent of parents report higher child care expenses compared to last year, with more than half saying they spend over 20 percent of their household income on child care.
  • 59 percent of parents say they’re “more concerned about child care costs” than in previous years.
• To afford higher costs, over half of parents are cutting back on vacation and leisure while 45 percent are reducing their grocery and dining budgets.
  • 31 percent of parents are considering taking on a second job to foot the bill.
• Jessica Gebbia, a teacher whose son attends day care: “Most of my paycheck is going just to have him here, and that’s rough because now we have gas prices, food prices, everything’s just going up and up.”

CHILD CARE PROVIDERS STRUGGLE TO STAY AFLOAT IN BIDEN’S ECONOMY

• With higher operating costs and staff shortages, many child care providers are on the brink of closing.
  • The number of child care employees remains 8.4 percent below what it was before the pandemic.
• Angela Kidane, CEO of Kidzstuff Childcare Center in Baltimore: “We’re probably up between 30% to 35% for operating costs. That cost is going to have to be passed along to our parents.”
  • Kidane has been forced to raise tuition by 30 percent, costing families “thousands of dollars a year.”
• Sean Toner, owner of Beach Babies in Delaware “is raising tuition 8% to 10% this fall for the second straight year to offset inflation.”
• National Childcare Association Director Cindy Lehnoff: “[Raising tuition prices is] happening everywhere. To keep the doors open, this is what has to happen and it is going to continue.”

PARENTS FACE SURGING BACK-TO-SCHOOL COSTS THANKS TO BIDENFLATION

• This fall, parents across the nation are feeling the effects of 40-year high inflation with prices of nearly all back-to-school necessities on the rise.
• Parents of K-12 students will spend $864 on school supplies this year, up $168 since 2019 according to the National Retail Federation.
• Analytics firm DataWeave found that back-to-school costs are up “nearly 15% on average” this season compared with a year ago.
• School districts are also seeing dramatically higher costs for food, transportation, and school goods.
• Biden’s favorite economist, Moody’s Mark Zandi: “That’s food prices, that’s rent and that’s back-to-school supplies. So, everything’s up a lot, and it’s really biting into the purchasing power of the typical family.”

UNDER BIDENFLATION PARENTS STRUGGLE TO PUT FOOD ON THE TABLE

• Bidenflation is causing grocery bills to skyrocket, forcing many parents to either resort to store brands, cut back on essentials, or do without certain types of food altogether.
  • In July, groceries jumped 13 percent since last year, marking the largest increase in over 43 years.
  • Prices for eggs are up an astounding 38 percent while items like chicken, milk, and lunchmeats have soared 17 percent, 15 percent, and 18 percent.
• 65 percent of parents are concerned about their ability to provide a “healthy” breakfast for their children due to Bidenflation.
• More Americans are turning to food banks and government assistance to feed their families:
  • Food banks across the country are facing a “drumbeat of increasing demand, month over month” according to Katie Fitzgerald, president of Feeding America.
• School cafeterias are also struggling to keep up with rising costs.
  • Nutrition director at East Hampton Public Schools in Connecticut Jennifer Bove: “I worry about kids going hungry.”

BIDEN AND DEMOCRATS FORCE KIDS TO MASK FOR THE THIRD STRAIGHT YEAR

• The Biden administration and Democrats are forcing masks onto children struggling to return to normal.
  • The Biden administration is still trying to force masks on toddlers in federally-funded “Head Start” programs.
  • In Democrat-run Prince George’s County, Maryland, students as young as 4-year-old will be forced to wear masks this fall.
  • In Democrat-run Philadelphia, all students will be required to wear masks for at least the first 10 days of the school year, and pre-school students as young as 3 will be forced to mask all year long.
  • In Jefferson County, Kentucky, the liberal public school board has refused to end its mask mandate on its 96,000 students.
• In Washington, D.C., Democrat Mayor Bowser’s anti-science mandates go even further, with 40 percent of Black students age 12 and up potentially facing expulsion this upcoming January due to the district’s discriminatory vaccine mandate.

DEMOCRATS FORCED CHILDREN OUT OF SCHOOL, CAUSING IRREPARABLE DAMAGE

• Biden’s Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said it was the “right decision” to close and go virtual, leading to massive learning loss for students across the country.
  • Democrats are still defending these terrible decisions, like Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) who, when asked if it was a mistake to keep children home so long during the pandemic said, “absolutely not.”
• The pandemic erased two decades of progress in math and reading, with the most vulnerable students faring the worst according to the National Assessment for Educational Progress (NAEP).
  • Reading scores fell by the largest margin in more than 30 years, while math scores saw their first ever decline since NAEP began tracking achievement in the 1970s.
  • This decline was even worse for minority students, with math scores dropping by 13 points for Black students and eight points for Hispanic students.
  • Low-income, Black, and Hispanic students were put at a further disadvantage due to school closures, “in part because their schools were more likely to continue remote learning for longer periods of time.”
• A GAO report found an estimated 1.1 million students grades K-12 registered for the 2020-21 school year but never showed up to class.
  • Nearly half of public school teachers said they had at least one student enrolled that “never showed up for class” during the school year.
  • Roughly three out of four teachers surveyed said they had more students unaccounted for by the end of the 2020-21 school year than in previous years.
• The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) estimates up to 20,000 students are not enrolled or stopped attending school during the 2021-22 school year.
  • This comes as nearly half of LAUSD students – more than 200,000 children – were chronically absent and missed at least nine percent of school days.
  • On the first day of this school year, nearly 50,000 LAUSD students were no-shows.
• A National Burau of Economic Research analysis shows that 19 of the top 20 states for getting kids back to in-person schooling were led by Republicans.
  • In contrast, 18 of the bottom 20 states and districts were led by Democrats.

DEMOCRATS’ PRIORITY: WOKE INDOCTRINATION AND CRITICAL RACE THEORY

• In Democrat-run Portland, Oregon, children in kindergarten are being taught to explore the “infinite gender spectrum” and first graders are being introduced to basic “queer theory.”
  • Portland is also using CRT to divide students by race, teaching that “white people have used definitions of gender as a way to lift up whiteness.”
• The Los Angeles Unified School District is encouraging five-year-olds to experiment with gender pronouns such as “they,” “ze,” and “tree.”
  • The district also has a “trans-affirming” policy that requires teachers to use a student’s desired name and pronouns and keep a student’s gender identity secret from parents if desired.
• The Pennsylvania Department of Education – under the Wolf-Fetterman administration – suggests “gender neutral pronouns” for students and includes a lesson guide for “gender-neutral day” for students beginning in third grade.
  • The Democrat-led state advocates for a day where students will pick two or three ways they will reject gender stereotypes and challenge gender norms.
