Illegal Immigrants Are Increasingly Taking Advantage Of Biden’s Wide Open Border

BIDEN CAUSED THE WORST APRIL AT THE BORDER IN DHS HISTORY

• In April, 234,088 illegal immigrants were apprehended attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border, making this “likely the highest monthly numbers since the Border Patrol was formed in 1924.”
  • It’s a 30 percent increase over last April, and a 384 percent increase from the average number of April apprehensions during the Trump administration.
  • 12,221 unaccompanied children were apprehended. 
  • 108,555 illegal immigrants were apprehended from countries outside the Northern Triangle, showing that Biden’s crisis has gone global.
• More than 3.3 million illegal immigrants have crossed the border since Biden took office.
  • Additionally, more than 300,000 illegal immigrants have reportedly disappeared into the U.S. in just the last seven months.
• Border officials are bracing for as many as 18,000 illegal immigrants per day at the border this spring which would be unprecedented in U.S. history.
  • According to Obama’s former DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson, just 1,000 apprehensions per day “overwhelms the system.” 
• Biden’s plan to eliminate Title 42 next week will only add fuel to the fire and cause a “mass migration event” of unseen proportions.  

CRIME AND DRUG SMUGGLING ARE ON THE RISE

• Illicit drugs are flowing into the country at an alarming rate, with 1,281 pounds of deadly fentanyl and 11,007 pounds of methamphetamine seized at the southern border in April alone.
  • Border Patrol seized enough fentanyl in April to equate to more than 290 million lethal doses.
  • Joshua Sharfstein of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health: “If they're seizing a lot, it's because a lot is coming in.”
• In 2021 drug overdose deaths in the U.S. reached an all-time high, up 17 percent from the year prior.
  • Opioid related deaths due primarily to fentanyl caused three quarters of these drug overdoses last year.
  • The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) even named May 10^th “National Fentanyl Awareness Day” due to the rapid rise in fentanyl-related deaths in the last year.
• The levels of fentanyl crossing the border is so large that even 12-year-olds are now considered “high risk” for obtaining fentanyl laced opioids.
• In Pima County, Arizona, fentanyl related deaths have already increased 40 percent over last year.
• In a 48-hour span, Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande sector arrested two convicted child sex offenders and five gang members attempting to enter the U.S.
• U.S. authorities recently discovered a tunnel crossing under the border from Mexico to California that has been used to smuggle more than 1,700 pounds of cocaine over the past several months.
• 62 illegal immigrants on the terror watchlist have been apprehended at the southern border just since the fiscal year began in October.

BIDEN IS RESPONSIBLE FOR A HUMANITARIAN CRISIS AT THE BORDER

• Despite Biden’s promise of a “fair and humane immigration system,” his open border policies aren’t compassionate, they are deadly.
• In Webb County, Texas, Border Patrol stopped two tractor trailers each carrying more than 100 illegal immigrants into the U.S. on consecutive days.
• At least 27 people have drowned in the Del Rio sector since April 1^st, including two children who drowned crossing the Rio Grande last week.
  • In the town of Eagle Pass alone there have been more than 20 drownings since April 1^st.
• Director of a migrant shelter in Mexico Sergio Tamai: “We want to make a recommendation to the Biden Administration. We said there is a tsunami coming. It’s here. And more so when Title 42 is lifted. They have to tell people to not cross illegally but do a better job handling the legal immigration process.”
• Taxpayers in Arizona could be forced to foot a $47,000 bill for first responders that have been called by illegal immigrants crossing the border in just the last few months.
• A two-year-old girl was abandoned by human smugglers in the desert when she was crossing the border into Texas, given only a piece of paper with her mother’s contact information on it.

BIDEN HAS ABANDONED BORDER PATROL AGENTS

• The Biden administration has abandoned Border Patrol, with agents left feeling “demonize[d].”
• Border agents are frustrated, with one agent saying: “"Instead of working to secure the border, Mayorkas has created an express lane for entry.”
  • Another agent added: “The only thing he’s [Mayorkas’] 'effectively managed' was to piss off every single Border Patrol agent that proudly wears the badge day in and day out.”
• Secretary Mayorkas has even acknowledged CBP agents’ frustration: “the morale in the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, in the Border Patrol, is low. There is no question.”
• Yuma, Arizona Sheriff Leon Wilmot said Border Patrol purchased equipment to help make the border more secure but the Biden administration has not allowed Border Patrol to use the necessary tools to secure the border.
• Biden is abandoning border town mayors as well with Eagle Pass, Texas Mayor Ronaldo Salinas saying “I wish our federal government stepped up even a little more just to give us some direction, or I would like to hear a plan … to counter the possibility of a surge in people on the border.”

BIDEN ENDS TITLE 42 ALLOWING MASS ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION TO RAMP UP

• Biden has caved to far-left demands and is removing the crucial Trump policy of Title 42 that helped to limit illegal migration and control the asylum process.
• Border officials are now planning for never before seen numbers totaling up to 18,000 illegal immigrants entering every day this spring.
• While the Biden administration has already overseen historic numbers of illegal border crossings each month, that will be nothing compared to the more than 170,000 migrants expected to flood the border when Title 42 ends.
• A Politico poll found that 54 percent of registered voters oppose Title 42 being repealed by the Biden administration.
• National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd: Once Title 42 ends, “We are ultimately going to wave the white flag of surrender — the cartels are going to control our borders.”

BIDEN’S OPEN BORDERS POLICIES HAVE MADE THIS CRISIS WORSE

• Biden’s failed policies created the crisis at the southern border.
  • In Biden’s first 100 days in office he took more than 94 executive actions on immigration, including halting construction of the border wall and ending the Trump administration’s successful “Remain in Mexico” policy.
  • Illegal immigrants are thanking Biden for his weak immigration policies, saying that they “didn’t even want to try” crossing the border when Trump was president.
• Now, Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland has decided to further open the border by allowing immigration judges to consider the “mental health condition” of an illegal immigrant convicted of an aggravated felony when deciding to allow immigrants to stay in the U.S.
• The Biden administration has even spent $72 million of taxpayer money in shutdown costs to avoid building a border wall.
• DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas refuses to take responsibility, saying, “We do not believe the policies of this administration have caused" the crisis at the border.
  • Mayorkas also admitted Biden’s budget for FY23 reduces the number of beds for detainees in ICE custody despite an expected rise in the number of encounters.
• With Biden failing to work with Mexico to tackle the border crisis, Mexico has now reached an agreement with Texas to help secure the southern border by requesting razor wire be deployed in Mexico for border security.
• As American families struggle to find baby formula due to nationwide shortages, border facilities remain stocked to the brim because of the crisis.
• Rasmussen polls show that 57 percent of likely voters feel the Biden administration isn’t doing enough to solve the border crisis.
