Joe Biden And Michael Bennet Have Burdened Coloradans With Higher Prices, Lower Wages, And Rising Crime

DEMOCRATS ARE FAILING COLORADO

• Today, Biden visits the Centennial State as Colorado families face skyrocketing prices on everything from food and energy to transportation and housing.
  • Biden is headed to Colorado to designate Camp Hale as a National Monument, which has been viewed by many as a partisan federal land grab that could impact oil and gas drilling in the region.
• Thanks to Biden’s radical tax-and-spend agenda that has fueled inflation, Colorado families are being crushed by one of the highest inflation rates in the country.
  • Biden and Democrats have doubled down, passing their Bidenflation Scam that raises taxes on Coloradans during a recession and will worsen inflation.
• Coloradans know Biden is to blame, with just 40 percent of Coloradans approving of the job Biden is doing and 53 percent disapproving.
  • Colorado voters also know their Democrat Senator Michael Bennet has failed them, earning the nickname “Senator Surrender” for his inability to put Coloradans first.
• Bennet has distanced himself from Biden’s failures despite voting with Biden 98 percent of the time.
  • While Bennet has said Biden “doesn’t need to come” to Colorado and his campaign refuses to comment if they want anyone from the administration to campaign with him, Bennet has voted in lockstep with Biden on his costly agenda.

COLORADO FAMILIES ARE FEELING THE PAIN OF DEMOCRATS’ INFLATIONARY SPENDING

• Nationally, August’s Consumer Price Index rose by 8.3 percent compared to last year, with inflation remaining at a 40-year high.
  • The inflation rate in Colorado is one of the highest in the nation, costing consumers an extra $953 a month according to Congress’ Joint Economic Committee.
• Because of rising prices, more Coloradans are turning to food banks to feed their families.
  • Jim Scharper, founder of Feeding Denver’s Hungry: “Of the people that signed up for this next month, 43% are new clients that we’ve never seen before.”
  • Aditi Desai, V.P. of marketing and communications for the Food Bank of the Rockies: “Inflation is a huge challenge for us right now…We’re spending $1.3 million each month right now to purchase food and that’s triple what we were spending in 2019.”
• As Coloradans struggle to afford gas, groceries, and housing, Biden and Bennet continue to fuel inflation.
  • Bennet voted for Biden’s Bidenflation Scam bill which will shrink the economy, kill thousands of jobs, raise taxes on families and businesses during a recession, and worsen – not reduce– inflation.
• On top of inflation, Colorado businesses are suffering from staffing shortages, with 64 percent of restaurant operators saying their restaurants don’t have enough employees.

BIDEN’S WAR ON AMERICAN ENERGY HITS COLORADANS

• On top of rising prices, Biden has waged a war on American energy which has hit Coloradans especially hard.
  • Colorado is the seventh-largest natural gas-producing state and nearly 70 percent of Colorado households rely on natural gas for home heating.
  • Coloradans will be forced to pay 17 percent more to heat their homes this winter.
• Colorado’s oil and gas industry supports 339,000 jobs and contributes $46 billion to the state’s economy, yet Biden and Bennet have taken steps to destroy the industry.
  • The Biden administration has leased less acres for oil-and-gas drilling than any other administration in modern history.
• Michael Bennet has repeatedly supported making energy more expensive for American families.
  • Bennet voted for the so-called “Inflation Reduction Act,” which would impose a new $6.5 billion natural gas tax.
  • Bennet voted to make it more expensive to produce oil and gas on federal lands.
  • After the Biden administration cancelled the Keystone XL pipeline, killing 11,000 jobs, Bennet flipped on Coloradans and voted against saving the pipeline.
  • Just last month, Bennet said he would “still support putting a fee on carbon.”
• Colorado gas prices now sit at $3.74 per gallon, more than $1.40 higher than when Biden took office.
• The Biden administration’s solution to high gas prices is to tell Colorado families to buy a $66,500 electric vehicle (EV) which many can’t afford.
  • Even Democrat Governor Jared Polis pushes for Coloradans to drive electric cars while he takes a gas-powered SUV to work every day.

DEMOCRATS’ SOFT-ON-CRIME AGENDA AND OPEN BORDERS PUTS COLORADANS AT RISK

• Biden and Democrats’ soft-on-crime policies have left Coloradans struggling with rising crime.
  • A Denver resident who was caught in the crossfire of an interstate shooting: “The city that we live in now is not the same city that we used to live in.”
• Colorado is ranked number one in the U.S. for motor vehicle theft, with the rate increasing by 13.6 percent this year.
  • The state is also ranked number one for bank robberies, number one for cocaine use, and number four for highest recidivism rates.
• As police departments struggle to remain fully staffed, Denver saw robberies increase by 7 percent and aggravated assaults by 11 percent in the first half of 2022.
• Democrats across Colorado are to blame for the rise in crime as it was their support of the defund the police movement, leniency on fentanyl possession, and Attorney General Phil Weiser’s “bail reform” policies that created the public safety crisis.
• Recently, Bennet voted with all 50 Democrat senators in opposing an amendment to combat rising crime across the country and ensuring progressive prosecutors crack down on criminals.
  • It’s no surprise the Denver Police Protective Association has endorsed Republican Joe O’Dea to put a stop to Democrats’ soft-on-crime policies.
• Biden’s open border policies have created a fentanyl crisis in Colorado, with the state seeing an almost 70 percent increase in fentanyl overdose deaths in 2021.
  • In just the first five months of 2022, the Colorado State Patrol had already seized more fentanyl than in all of 2021, seizing more than 2 million pills containing fentanyl.
  • Col. Matthew Packard, chief of Colorado State Patrol: “Fentanyl keeps coming. It is a poison that is continuously infecting, not only Colorado, but every community throughout this country.”
