While Biden And Democrats Are Allowing Anti-Semitism To Grow In Their Party, This Month’s Elections Show Republicans Are Making Inroads With Jewish Voters

JEWISH AMERICANS HAVE A HOME IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY

• The GOP is making strong inroads with Jewish Americans, fighting on issues that matter to Jewish voters while Democrats allow anti-Israel sentiment and even anti-Semitism to grow in their party.
  • 75 percent of Orthodox Jews now lean or identify as Republican.
• This month’s elections proved Republicans are gaining support within the Jewish community.
  • Virginia exit polls show Republicans made huge inroads among Jewish voters while Democrats saw a 10-percentage point decline.   
  • The two most important issues to Jewish voters in Virginia’s election were education and the economy, two of the top issues which Glenn Youngkin ran on.
  • In New York, North Hempstead – an area with a growing Jewish population – flipped Republican for the first time in at least eight years, electing Mazi Melesa Pilip as County Legislator.
  • In New York City Council’s election, Republicans gained a seat in a heavily Orthodox Jewish neighborhood, electing Inna Vernikov to represent District 48.

BIDEN AND THE DEMOCRATS HAVE A GROWING ANTI-ISRAEL AND ANTI-SEMITISM PROBLEM

• Biden and Democrats have allowed anti-Semitism to flourish in their party by refusing to condemn their anti-Semitic members and implementing policies that exacerbate dangerous anti-Israel and anti-Semitic ideas.
  • Jewish Americans make up just 2.4 percent of the U.S. adult population but are the targets of hate crimes at a higher rate than other minority groups.
• In September, Kamala Harris applauded a student who accused Israel of “ethnic genocide,” failing to stand up to this disgusting and false claim.
  • Iran, which supports and funds terrorism in Israel, promoted Harris’s actions on social media.
• Huwaida Arraf, an anti-Israel activist, is now running for Congress as a Democrat in Michigan.
  • Arraf tried to equip Hamas with military weapons, co-founded a dangerous anti-Israel organization, and defended a Palestinian terrorist who killed two Jewish students.
• During a talk with Jewish leaders in September, Biden lied about visiting Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life synagogue after the 2018 mass shooting.
  • Barb Feige, the executive director of the Tree of Life, confirmed that Biden had not visited the Tree of Life Synagogue, the location of the worst anti-Jewish hate crime in US history.

BIDEN’S ACTIONS EMBOLDEN ANTI-ISRAEL ACTIVISTS

• Biden’s problem started on day one of his presidency, when he had a preacher with a history of anti-Israel statements, Rev. William Barber, at his inaugural prayer service.
  • Barber’s history includes calling Israel an “apartheid state” and downplaying the Holocaust, yet, Biden has failed to condemn Barber’s statements.
• In April, Biden allocated $235 million in aid for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in The Near East (UNRWA), which has a history of anti-Semitic and anti-Israel incidents.
  • A report by UN Watch found “113 instances of incitement to violence by UNRWA staff” towards Jewish individuals.
  • This included instances of idolizing Hitler, claiming Jewish people “want to rule the world and destroy Islam,” and a statement that Jewish people were “responsible for the coronavirus.”
• When House Democrats tried to slash Iron Dome funding for Israel, Biden failed to denounce the attempt despite his administration’s pledge that aid to Israel would “not be conditional.”
  • Anti-Defamation League President Jonathan Greenblatt called this move a “shameful act” which “emboldens” terrorist organizations such as “Hamas and Hezbollah” fueling anti-Semitism.
• In October, the Biden administration announced plans to open a Palestinian consulate in Jerusalem despite Israel’s objection that move would delegitimize Israel, destabilize the Middle East, and threaten the security of Israel.
  • Over 200 House Republicans have signed onto a letter urging Biden “not to reopen the Jerusalem consulate.”
  • Bar-Ilan University Professor Eytan Gilboa called Biden’s move “very hostile” and “irrational.”

DEMOCRATS REPEATEDLY REFUSE TO CONDEMN GROWING ANTI-SEMITISM IN THEIR PARTY

• Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has a long record of targeting Jewish people and Israel, including accusing Israel of “hypnotiz[ing] the world,” equating Israel’s security forces with the terrorist group Hamas, promoting the anti-Semitic BDS movement, and charging supporters of Israel with “allegiance to a foreign country.”
  • House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) defended Omar’s anti-Semitism, claiming Omar “has a different experience in the use of words” and that she didn’t think it was “intended.”
  • Pelosi has gone as far as calling Omar a “valued member” of the Democrat caucus, admitting that the Democrat party “did not rebuke her” and fervently recommended “no” action be taken against her.
• Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) said she got a “calming feeling” when discussing the Holocaust, said “we need to stop” “enabling” Israel while Hamas was launching rockets at civilians, called Israel a “violent apartheid system,” and labeled then-Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the “Apartheid-in-chief.”
  • Biden had publicly thanked Tlaib for being a “fighter” and said that he admires her.
• Cori Bush (D-MO), an outspoken supporter of the anti-Semitic BDS movement, accused Israel of “apartheid” and refused to grant an interview to a local Jewish newspaper in her congressional district.
• Barbara Lee (D-CA), Maxine Waters (D-CA), Danny Davis (D-IL), Andre Carson (D-IN), Gregory Meeks (D-NY), Jim Clyburn (D-SC) and Al Green (D-TX), and Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) have ties to Louis Farrakhan, “America’s leading anti-Semite” as labeled by the Anti-Defamation League.
• In October, Rep. Betty McCollum (D-MN) introduced a resolution urging Biden to condemn Israel and support Palestinian terrorist organizations.
  • One of the organizations the resolution urges support for is the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, which the S. and the European Union have designated a terrorist organization.
  • The resolution is cosponsored by 10 House Democrats: Reps. Rashida Talib (D-MI), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ), Andre Carson (D-IN), Marie Newman (D-IL), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), Cori Bush (D-MO), and Chuy Garcia (D-IL).

JEWISH LEADERS HAVE SLAMMED DEMOCRATS’ BLATANT ANTI-SEMITISM

• More than 200 rabbis wrote a letter directly attributing mob attacks on American Jews today to “the rhetoric of Rep. Omar and those who stand with her within and beyond Congress.”
• In 2019, Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the Anti-Defamation League asked Nancy Pelosi to let the House vote on a resolution to condemn “antisemitic statements by Rep. Omar.”
• In 2019, 11 prominent Jewish organizations wrote a letter requesting Omar be immediately removed from the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
• Two Orthodox Rabbis from Georgia condemned Sen. Raphael Warnock’s (D-GA) past statements regarding Israel as perpetrating anti-Zionist ideals.
