Democrats Want To Let Non-Citizens Vote

AMERICAN ELECTIONS SHOULD BE DECIDED SOLELY BY AMERICAN VOTERS

Democrats are increasingly pushing to let non-citizens vote in local elections.
The Republican National Committee (RNC) is fighting back against these blatant attacks on election integrity by engaging in lawsuits on this very issue.
Yesterday, the RNC filed a lawsuit against the cities of Montpelier and Winooski, Vermont over their new town charters letting non-citizens vote in their municipal elections.
The RNC is also engaged in an important lawsuit in Pennsylvania, calling on Pennsylvania's Democrat-run Department of State to reveal records related to a potentially massive flaw in the integrity of Pennsylvania's election system.
- Due to mismanagement under the watch of Pennsylvania Democrats, as many as 100,000 non-citizens may be registered to vote in Pennsylvania elections.

DEMOCRATS ACROSS THE COUNTRY ARE NOW OPENLY TRYING TO LET NON-CITIZENS VOTE

Earlier this year, the Democrat-controlled Vermont General Assembly voted to let two towns in the state “allow non-citizens to vote” in local elections.
In Illinois, State Senator Celina Villanueva (D) introduced legislation to “allow non-citizens to vote in local school board elections” statewide.
In Washington D.C., Councilmember Brianne Nadeau (D) re-introduced a bill that would allow non-citizens to vote in local D.C. elections.
- If passed, the bill would expand voting eligibility to “legal permanent residents — Green Card-holders — and would apply to the elections for mayor, D.C. Council, State Board of Education, Advisory Neighborhood Commissions, and attorney general.”
In New York City, “a bill to enfranchise noncitizens in New York City elections appears to be within close reach” of passing the City Council, having support from 34 Democrat members.
In California, the Los Angeles Unified School District authorized a study into allowing non-citizens to vote in school board elections, which is expected to lead to a ballot measure.
Six cities in Massachusetts have begun the process to consider giving “voting rights to non-citizen residents in municipal elections.”

LETTING NON-CITIZENS VOTE IS A RADICAL POLICY

Federal law makes it illegal for non-citizens to vote in federal elections, and only the most far-left cities and local municipalities have previously let non-citizens vote.
Ten Maryland cities have made changes to their charters to allow non-citizens to vote in local elections.
- Since March 1992, non-citizens in Takoma Park, Maryland have been allowed to vote in local elections.
- Other Maryland jurisdictions that allow non-citizens to vote in local elections includes, Barnesville, Chevy Chase, Garret Park, Glen Echo, Hyattsville, Martin’s Additions, Mount Rainier, Riverdale, and Somerset.
Since 2016, San Francisco lawmakers have allowed non-citizens to vote in school board elections regardless of their immigration or citizenship status.
Since 1989, Chicago has also allowed non-citizens to vote and serve on its school councils.

AMERICANS OVERWHELMING OPPOSE LETTING NON-CITIZENS VOTE

Americans reject letting non-citizens vote, with 71 percent of Americans opposing San Francisco’s decision to let non-citizens vote in school board elections.
Voters in four states — Colorado, Florida, North Dakota, and Alabama — have overwhelmingly supported ballot measures in the last few years saying that only U.S. citizens can vote in their state’s elections.
Even though voters overwhelmingly reject letting non-citizens vote, Democrats in Congress appear to have no problem with it.
- In 2018, less than a third of House Democrats voted to condemn local policies to let non-citizen vote.
