With His Climate Summit, Biden Is Working To Do More For Russia And China Than He Is For American Workers

BIDEN’S “CLIMATE” PRIORITY: COZYING UP TO RUSSIA AND CHINA, NOT SAVING AMERICAN JOBS

  • Today, Biden is hosting an international virtual summit on climate change, and has invited Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
    • Nearly 100 days into office, Biden has talked to Xi and Putin more than he has talked to Republican congressional leaders Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy.
    • Biden has called Xi once and Putin twice, while having only spoken to McConnell twice and not at all to McCarthy.
  • In the Biden administration, the interests of China and Russia have taken precedence over U.S. jobs and America’s national security.
  • While Biden has turned a blind eye to Russia’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline, he didn’t hesitate to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline, killing 11,000 American jobs.
    • Built by the Russian state-owned monopoly Gazprom, the pipeline would increase Europe’s dependence on Russia for energy, significantly strengthening Putin’s economic and political influence.
    • Noticeably absent from Biden’s latest round of sanctions on Russia was any mention of Nord Stream 2.
  • China continues to expand its global influence through its Belt and Road Initiative, with coal-fired power plants a key feature.
    • Biden has yet to get tough on China, with his Secretary of State recently getting steamrolled by Chinese officials at a summit in Alaska.

BIDEN’S POLICIES ARE A DE FACTO GREEN NEW DEAL

  • Biden’s $2.25 trillion “infrastructure” package focuses spending on Green New Deal-style policies, with just 7 percent for roads, bridges, airports, waterways, and ports.
    • Biden would spend more on subsidizing the electric vehicle industry – $174 billion – than he would on the items most Americans recognize as infrastructure.
  • Democrats have admitted that Biden’s policies embrace the Green New Deal.
    • Ed Markey: “The Biden administration is including climate action, environmental justice, and the care economy in its recovery plans. That’s the DNA of the Green New Deal.”
    • Energy Sec. Jennifer Granholm: “The Green New Deal was an important framework for what Joe Biden has put on tap.”
  • Biden himself has said that the $93 trillion Green New Deal “doesn’t go far enough.”

BIDEN REJOINED THE COSTLY AND JOB-KILLING PARIS CLIMATE ACCORD

  • On Biden’s first day in office, he rejoined the Paris Climate Agreement.
  • Economists estimate that this Agreement will:
    • Kill anywhere from 400,000 to 2.7 million jobs.
    • Force American households to spend up to 20 percent more for their electricity.
    • Cost the average family of four more than $20,000 in total income loss.
    • Shrink the U.S. economy by $2.5 trillion.

BIDEN SURROUNDS HIMSELF WITH RADICAL ENVIRONMENTALISTS

  • Kamala Harris supports the job-killing Green New Deal, saying the “underlying principles behind it are sound and important.”
  • During the campaign, Biden appointed Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, architect of the Green New Deal, as co-chair of his climate task force.
  • Biden’s Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg believes “this is our chance” to implement Green New Deal-style policies at the Department of Transportation.
  • Biden’s EPA Chief Michael Regan has vowed to put “environmental justice” at the center of EPA’s decision making.
  • Biden appointed John Kerry, who took a private jet to Iceland to accept an environmental award, as his “Climate Czar” to lead his administration’s efforts to fight climate change.
