Families Mourn While Biden Ignores His Afghanistan Disaster

On The Anniversary Of The Kabul Airport Terrorist Attack That Killed 13 U.S.  Service Members, Americans Remember What Biden’s Failures Cost Them

TODAY, AMERICANS REMEMBER THE LIVES LOST DUE TO BIDEN’S AFGHANISTAN FAILURES

  • On August 26, 2021, 13 brave American heroes made the ultimate sacrifice due to Biden’s botched Afghanistan withdrawal, despite the administration’s previous lies that everything would be conducted in a “safe, orderly and effective way.”
  • Instead of taking responsibility, Biden claimed the withdrawal was an “extraordinary success.”
    • One year later, Biden has avoided acknowledging his failed withdrawal, spending the anniversary of the fall of Kabul on vacation and is scheduled to leave for vacation on the anniversary of the Kabul Airport terrorist attack.
    • Americans know Biden is to blame for the Afghanistan disaster, with his approval rating plummeting as a result.
  • After more than two decades of American patriots answering the call of duty to preserve freedom and prevent terrorism from coming to America’s shores, American service members, veterans, and Gold Star families deserve answers from Biden.

13 AMERICANS WERE KILLED IN BIDEN’S CHAOTIC WITHDRAWAL

  • Biden’s chaotic withdrawal led to 13 American service members losing their lives, young men and women who Americans will never forget.
  • In addition to the American lives lost, thousands of Afghans and hundreds of American citizens were abandoned because of Biden’s poor planning, miscalculations, and commitment to a withdrawal date based on a political calculation.
    • Biden was warned of the risks of his withdrawal, but went ahead with his plan anyway.
    • Lawmakers pressured Biden for months to detail a plan for the evacuation of Afghan allies if the Afghan government collapsed, but the Biden administration dismissed the idea.
    • Biden then refused to change course as the Afghan president fled the country, Kabul fell to the Taliban, and chaos erupted at the airport.

VETERANS AND GOLD STAR FAMILIES WERE LEFT FEELING SHOCKED AND HEARTBROKEN

  • As Americans learned of the deaths of 13 service members on August 26, their families’ hearts were filled with anger, sadness, and disappointment.
    • The father of Marine Lance Corporal Kareem Nikoui who died in the attack said, “I'm really disappointed in the way that the president has handled this.”
    • Relatives of Staff Sergeant Taylor Hoover wrote, “The world has lost a true light. Our hearts are broken. Shock, disbelief, horror, sadness, sorrow, anger and grief.”
  • Veterans slammed Biden over his handling of Afghanistan.
    • Navy Reservist Tom Porter: “To see it all melt away in a matter of hours … It’s shocking and it’s angering.”
    • Retired Army Sergeant Eric Sowers: “I think we left in such rapid fashion … with no good succession put in place. That’s what is heartbreaking.”
    • Rep. Michael Waltz (R-FL): “You can have the strongest, most forceful, most well-equipped military in the world, but if you have a weak Commander in Chief that our enemies don't respect and fear, it's all for naught.”
  • One report found that roughly 73 percent of Afghanistan veterans, many with multiple tours of duty, felt betrayed by the exit and 67 percent felt humiliated.
  • Gold star families watched the events in Afghanistan unfold as their hearts broke all over again.

BIDEN SHOWED A COMPLETE LACK OF RESPECT FOR THE FALLEN

THROUGHOUT IT ALL, BIDEN HAS NEVER TAKEN RESPONSIBILIY OR HELD ANYONE ACCOUNTABLE

  • From the moment Biden defended the chaos engulfing Afghanistan, to calling his failure an “extraordinary success,” to now complete silence one year later, Biden has no regrets for his withdrawal.
    • Biden: “I do not regret my decision to end America’s warfighting in Afghanistan.”
  • The Biden administration has refused to publicly identify the bomber responsible for the 13 service members’ deaths, even though multiple reports said the bomber was an ISIS-K member freed from Bagram Airfield by the Taliban after Biden abandoned it.
  • Biden has refused to take responsibility or hold any member of his administration accountable for his failed Afghanistan withdrawal.
  • At the height of the withdrawal, the Biden administration told active and retired service members that they cannot condemn Biden and were directed to avoid “being too vocal in criticism” of the president.
  • A year later, Americans have been offered no reports or lessons learned from the Biden administration as to what went wrong in the Afghanistan withdrawal, but rather a new memo further defends his actions.
