Biden’s Inaction To Address The Shortage Has Left American Families Desperate To Feed Their Children

BIDEN’S LATEST CRISIS: A BABY FORMULA SHORTAGE

• The Biden administration’s incompetence has created a baby formula shortage which is burdening families across the country, leaving parents desperate to find food to feed their children.
  • This is just the latest instance of a presidency defined by countless crises, failures, and broken promises.
• Roughly three in four babies are fed formula by six months old, meaning this could “jeopardize food security for most children.”
• The administration has American parents panicking, driving hours to find food to feed their newborns as over 40 percent of baby formula is out of stock across the country.
  • Eight states have more than 50 percent of their formula supply out of stock.
• As parents are frantically trying to feed their babies, the Biden administration has no answer on when the shortage is going to get better.
  • The Biden administration doesn’t even consider the shortage a crisis.

BIDEN IS FAILING PARENTS 

• Instead of taking responsibility, the Biden administration is blaming everyone and everything but themselves.
  • First, the administration blamed the formula shortage on “fearful” parents who cannot feed their newborns.
  • Then, Biden attempted to shift blame off his administration by saying they aren’t “mind readers.”
  • Most recently, the administration attempted to blame baby formula maker Abbott’s plant shutdown for the shortage.
• While the Biden administration originally said they only knew about the shortage since February, HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra recently admitted he had known about the shortage since last year.
  • Biden waited until May 13 to publicly address the crisis.
• The Biden administration has offered no real solutions to the crisis.
  • When asked what concerned parents should do to feed their babies, the Biden administration was unable to point to any federal guidance.
  • The administration then released a new website for parents looking for baby formula, however parents who turn to this resource are met with wait times lasting over an hour and “serious challenges in finding baby formula through some of the main suggestions.”
• The Biden administration even attempted to gaslight Americans by telling worried parents that “shelves are actually stocked” and that their response has “had success.”
• By their own admission, the Biden administration saw this crisis coming and did nothing to stop it.

AMERICANS KNOW BIDEN IS TO BLAME

• Experts have laid responsibility for the baby formula shortage squarely at Biden’s feet.
  • Food safety lawyer William Marler: Biden’s FDA “dropped the ball” on the formula crisis.
  • Former FDA associate commissioner Peter Pitts: Biden’s FDA “knew that this shortage situation was going to happen” and that “the White House isn’t handling it.”
  • CEO of STOP Food Borne Illness Mitzi Baum: “The whole situation could have been done with a sense of urgency when you look at the population that ingests this product.”
  • Active Food Safety managing partner Hal King: “I don’t blame the FDA, I blame the government.”
• It’s not just experts - Democrats also recognize that Biden is to blame.
  • Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) said Biden’s FDA needs to be held accountable as it “dragged its feet in telling the public” about the crisis.
• Even Biden’s FDA Commissioner Robert Califf admitted that “errors” and “mistakes” were made.

• Parents across the country are desperate to feed their babies because of Biden’s formula crisis.
  • Mary Summers from Ohio: “we spend about two hours a day looking for formula. I’m losing sleep over it.”
  • Taylor Miller from Texas is rationing her daughter’s formula and wastes “a whole tank of gas in a day trying to find” some.
  • Bryan Lambillotte from California: “Stores in our area would give us a four- to six-week timeframe for when we might receive formula, and obviously for babies we can’t wait four to six weeks. It was pretty scary.”
  • Taylor Weeden from Tennessee: “It’s been rough not being able to know if I’m going to be able to feed my baby.”
  • Jhoseline Sanchez Cornelison from Idaho: “I’ve searched high and low. I’ve probably looked at all of the stories in all of Eastern Idaho every day since the beginning of the month. I’ve even searched all the way up to the border of Idaho and Utah, Idaho and Wyoming. And it’s impossible to find anything right now.”
  • One Texas family spoke out about the struggle to find specific formula for their premature baby, “I don’t know what to do. I was crying right now in Target.”
