Border Czar Kamala Harris Spent Two Days In Central America; On Friday, She’ll Spend Just Two Hours At The Border
HARRIS HAS AVOIDED THE BORDER FOR MONTHS
- After being named border czar 93 days ago, Kamala Harris is finally visiting the border, traveling today to El Paso, Texas.
- White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki admitted Harris is visiting because the crisis is not “under control.”
- This comes after months of Harris treating the border crisis like a joke. She:
- Harris is choosing to visit El Paso so she can be hosted by Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-TX) “who has been reliably supportive” of the Biden administration’s failed immigration policies, rather than visit sections of the border that have been hit the hardest.
- El Paso is secured by the border wall, with the region getting 131 miles of new fencing under the Trump administration, the most of any of the agency’s six border regions.
- Harris should be visiting the Rio Grande Valley, where over 50,000 illegal immigrants were apprehended in May alone, 128 percent more than the entire El Paso sector.
DESPITE HARRIS’ FOCUS ON THE NORTHERN TRIANGLE, ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS ARE ARRIVING FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD
- Harris has used the Northern Triangle as an excuse not to visit the border, claiming she is focused on addressing the crisis’ “root causes.”
- However, illegal immigrants are coming from all over the world, not just the Northern Triangle.
- In the past few months, illegal immigrants from more than 160 countries have been encountered at the border.
- Over 22 percent of the illegal immigrants apprehended at the border in May arrived from countries other than the Northern Triangle.
- Illegal immigrants from India and Asia are flying into Mexico City then heading north in order to take advantage of the “wide openings in the border wall near Yuma.”
THE CRISIS REACHED NEW HEIGHTS WHILE HARRIS LOOKED THE OTHER WAY
- In April and May alone, the two full months since Harris became border czar:
- 358,888 migrants were caught trying to illegally cross the border.
- 52,662 migrants that illegally crossed were released into the United States.
- The number of unaccompanied children traveling across the U.S.-Mexico border reached an all-time high.
- More fentanyl has been captured by the CBP so far in 2021 than in all of 2020.
- The border crisis is not slowing down, with the number of unaccompanied children crossing the border this week rising to the highest levels since the spring.
HARRIS AND BIDEN ARE TO BLAME
- The Biden-Harris administration’s reckless open borders agenda is the true “root cause” of this border crisis.
- While Biden and Harris refuse to take accountability for their border crisis, Republican governors are stepping up to protect their citizens.
