  • Today, Biden is visiting Cleveland, Ohio to tout his failed economic agenda and dodge blame for his declining economy.
  • Biden’s visit to the Buckeye State comes as Ohio families face skyrocketing prices on everything from food and energy to transportation and housing.
  • Biden’s radical tax-and-spend agenda is to blame for rising prices, with even liberal economists saying Biden’s spending fueled inflation.
    • report from the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco found that Biden’s $1.9 trillion stimulus fueled inflation.
    • According to a June The Economist/YouGov Poll, 75 percent of Americans, including 58 percent of Democrats, blame Biden for inflation, saying he bears “a lot” or “some” responsibility for higher prices.
  • With the economy on the verge of recession, only 26 percent of Ohioans approve of the job Biden is doing.

BIDENFLATION IS ROBBING OHIOANS OF THEIR HARD-EARNED MONEY

  • Nationally, consumer prices have risen by 8.6 percent compared to last year – marking the largest annual increase in 40 years.
    • In Ohio, working-class families have been especially hit hard by Bidenflation, with costs rising 12.4 percent since January 2021.
    • If this continues, Ohio families would pay an extra $7,100 more per year than they did when Biden took office.
  • Biden’s price hike is also hitting Ohio residents with higher energy and transportation costs.
    • Since Biden took office in January 2021, gas prices in Ohio have more than doubled, reaching an all-time high of over $5 per gallon in June.
    • Home utility costs are also expected to soar for more than 2.75 million Ohio residents by $400 million, further squeezing family budgets.
    • Biden’s anti-American energy agenda cost the average family a total of $1,000 last year according to the Heartland Institute.
  • With prices on nearly everything increasing, homebuyers and renters are facing soaring housing costs.
    • In Ohio, the average home price increased 13 percent since last year while average rent prices in the Greater Cleveland area jumped 19 percent over the past year.

OHIO FAMILIES AND BUSINESSES HAVE MOUNTING CONCERNS UNDER BIDEN’S ECONOMY

  • An Ohio survey by the National Federation of Independent Business recently found that almost every Ohio small business owner is concerned with inflation, labor shortages and supply chain disruptions.
    • Roughly 89 percent of Ohio small business owners recently increased prices – 33 percent of which hiked prices by more than 10 percent.
    • More than half of those surveyed said that short staffing is a “very real problem,” and 90 percent stated that the cost of gas is negatively impacting their business.
  • The Ohio Restaurant Association has reported that high inflation is hurting restaurants’ bottom lines across the state.
    • Tom Tiner, Ohio restaurant owner and chef: “This is supposed to be the American dream but unfortunately, it’s a lot tougher to succeed these days.”
    • Laurie Torries, a Cleveland restaurant owner: “It's very difficult and almost unsustainable.”
    • John Baker, president and CEO of the Ohio Restaurant Association: “I think we're beginning to see the early parts of the recession happening across the state and in Cleveland.”
  • Ohio small businesses are struggling to combat rising rent costs, with one survey finding that roughly 33 percent of Ohio small business owners could not pay their rent on time in May.
