Under Joe Biden And John Fetterman, Pennsylvanians Are Facing Rising Crime, Skyrocketing Prices, And A War On Keystone State Energy Producers

PENNSYLVANIANS ARE LESS SAFE UNDER BIDEN

• Today, Biden is traveling to Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to tout Democrats’ soft-on-crime agenda despite crime rising across the Keystone State due to these very same far-left policies.
• Biden has failed to stand up to the radicals in his own party who want to defund the police and force their soft-on-crime agenda onto America, with residents in Democrat-run states like Pennsylvania left to face the consequences.
  • Last weekend, 14 people were shot and four killed in Philadelphia alone.
• The Keystone State knows Biden and radical Democrats do not represent their values, with only 37 percent of Pennsylvanians approving of the job Biden is doing.
  • Voters in nearby Scranton even say that Biden “does not speak for [us].”

UNDER DEMOCRATS, CRIME IS SURGING IN THE KEYSTONE STATE

• John Fetterman and Pennsylvania Democrats have allowed rampant crime to plague cities across the Keystone State.
• In 2021, Democrat-run Philadelphia broke its all-time homicide record with more than 560 killed, and so far this year the city is already on track to surpass last year’s record, with more than 1,400 people being shot already.
  • The city has seen an increase in other crimes as well, with armed robberies up over 60 percent and retail theft up over 50 percent this year.
  • Philadelphians have suffered more than 750 carjackings so far this year, equaling the total from all of 2021 and more than triple the average the city saw each year from 2010-2019.
  • A Pew poll shows that 70 percent of Philadelphia’s residents think crime, drugs, and public safety are the biggest issues facing the city.
• Philadelphia Democrat District Attorney Larry Krasner has pushed his soft-on-crime agenda and dropped felony cases at a high rate as crime skyrockets.
• Democrat-run Pittsburgh has also seen a spike in crime with the city experiencing 21 percent more homicides so far this year compared to this point last year.
  • Pittsburgh resident Marcus Williams: “I feel like it's only going to get worse and worse.”
• Despite crime surging throughout the state, Pennsylvania’s police and fire departments have had to reallocate money due to rising gas prices.

KEYSTONE FAMILIES ARE LESS SAFE BECAUSE OF JOHN FETTERMAN

• John Fetterman has made the Keystone State less safe as Pennsylvania’s Lieutenant Governor, supporting soft on crime policies and even going so far as to call for “reimaging the police.”
  • Fetterman put a record number of criminals back on the street through his position on the Pennsylvania Board of Pardons, at one point even threatening and bullying board members who didn’t agree.
• Fetterman’s soft on crime “activism” doesn’t stop there, having called for other radical policies such as releasing one-third of Pennsylvania’s prison population and ending “life without parole” for murderers, claiming these policies would “not make anyone less safe.”
  • Fetterman has also supported taxpayer-funded drug dens and “decriminalizing [drugs] across the board,” including heroin.
  • 13 sheriffs from across Pennsylvania have called out Fetterman’s soft-on-crime policies, highlighting how they contribute to rising crime.

FETTERMAN WOULD HELP BIDEN WAGE WAR ON PENNSYLVANIA’S ENERGY INDUSTRY

• Pennsylvania is the second-largest natural gas producer in America, yet Biden has waged war on the industry.
• Biden wants to eliminate fossil fuels despite it being the livelihood of so many Pennsylvanians.
• Like Biden, John Fetterman has repeatedly said he wants to end the fossil fuel industry.
  • For years, Fetterman has attacked the Pennsylvania fracking industry, calling it a “stain” on the state and said, “if we did things right in this state, we wouldn’t have fracking.”
  • A fracking ban would kill 609,000 Pennsylvania jobs while taking $261 billion out of the state’s economy.
• Not only has Fetterman attacked the fracking industry, Fetterman has come out in support of radical energy policies such as a carbon caps and promised to be the tip of the “spear” in transitioning “away from fossil fuels.”
• Pennsylvanians are already suffering from Biden’s war on American energy as energy prices in the state increased nearly 45 percent in June alone and gas prices reached a record high of $5.07 per gallon.
  • Currently, residents are paying nearly $1.50 more per gallon of gas and over $2.25 more per gallon of diesel than before Biden took office.
  • The Biden administration’s solution to high gas prices is to tell Pennsylvania families to buy an expensive electric vehicle (EV) which many can’t afford.
• The high diesel prices plaguing the state have also placed a burden on Pennsylvania farmers who are now struggling to fill up their tractors.
  • A Lehigh County Farmer: “I’ve got a tractor hooked up to my corn planter out here, no diesel fuel, and I can’t afford to get any.”
  • Kyle Kotzmoyer, a legislative affairs specialist for the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau: “We have reached that point to where it is very close to being a sinking ship.”

BIDENFLATION IS ROBBING WORKING-CLASS PENNSYLVANIANS

• Nationally, July’s Consumer Price Index rose by 8.5 percent compared to last year, with inflation remaining at the highest levels in 40 years.
  • In Pennsylvania, inflation has hit working-class families especially hard, with household costs rising 11 percent since January 2021 according to Congress’ Joint Economic Committee.
  • Even if inflation stopped rising today, Biden’s price hike would cost the average family an extra $8,600 over the next year.
• On top of rising prices, Pennsylvanians are facing a weak economy because of Governor Tom Wolf and Fetterman.
  • Under Fetterman and Wolf, the Keystone State has the seventh highest unemployment rate in the nation.
  • In the first quarter of 2022, Pennsylvania’s economy shrank by 2 percent, performing worse than the U.S. economy during the same period.
  • Wolf and Fetterman have failed to bring jobs back after the pandemic, with the state ranking 34^rd nationally for jobs recovered.
• Under Biden and Fetterman, housing prices are surging and the dream of homeownership is becoming more difficult for Pennsylvanians.
  • Pennsylvania home prices have jumped 10.6 percent over the past year with mortgage rates nearly doubling since January 2021.
  • The increase in average mortgage rates earlier this year will cost Pennsylvania homebuyers an extra $88,560 over the life of their 30-year loan, “pricing many out of the market.”
