New Data Shows Republican-Led States Continue To Lead America’s Economic Recovery

REPUBLICAN-LED STATES ARE BRINGING BACK JOBS

• Newly released data from the Labor Department confirms that Republican Governors are leading the way in getting Americans back to work.
  • Jobs are rising and unemployment is lower in states with Republican Governors.
• Looking at the percentage of lost jobs that have been recovered, it is clear Republican states are outperforming Democrat-led ones.
  • 16 of the top 20 states for jobs recovered since the coronavirus pandemic hit are led by Republican Governors, and 18 of the top 20 states have Republican controlled legislatures.
  • The top 13 states for jobs recovered are all led by Republicans.
  • Two Republican-led states – Idaho and Utah – now have more jobs than when the pandemic hit.
• 25 out of 27 Republican-led states have recovered at least half of their jobs lost, and 17 Republican-led states have recovered at least two-thirds of their lost jobs.

RED STATES HAVE LOWER UNEMPLOYMENT RATES

• Out of the top 18 states with the lowest unemployment rates, 15 are led by Republican Governors.
  • The seven states with the lowest unemployment rates are all led by Republican Governors.
  • The 10 states with the highest unemployment rates are all led by Democrat Governors: California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, and Pennsylvania.
• The average unemployment rate for the nation’s 27 states with Republican Governors is just 4.5 percent.
  • Democrat-led states have an average unemployment rate over 1.5 percentage points higher – 6.1 percent.
• The unemployment rates in New Hampshire, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Montana – all Republican-led – are lower than when the pandemic began.

WHILE REPUBLICANS CONTINUE TO LEAD THE ECONOMIC RECOVERY, BIDEN’S POLICIES WREAK HAVOC ON SMALL BUSINESSES ACROSS THE COUNTRY

• Businesses across the country are still struggling with a “major shortage of workers,” with many blaming Biden’s policies.
  • In Beaumont, Texas the labor shortage issue “is a lot more serious than people believe it is.”
  • In Richmond, Virginia there’s a “major shortage of workers” for restaurants and their suppliers.
  • In Bangor, Maine the dairy industry was forced to employ “11 percent fewer people” compared to last year because of the “labor shortages” caused by “unusually high unemployment benefits.”
  • In New York City a restaurant owner said “we have no staff to open for lunch” because of Biden’s big government policies.
  • Along the Jersey Shore a hotel owner said “it’s never been this hard to hire.”
• Almost half of small business owners are having “real problems” finding workers amid labor shortages at the “highest level” they have ever seen.
  • "Extra benefits" supported by Biden and Democrats are to blame for labor shortages affecting employers.
  • Because Biden is paying people not to work, many small businesses “cannot open because they cannot find the workers.”
• While red states are leading the way in getting workers back on the job, Biden and Democrats support paying Americans not to work.
