The Latest Data Confirms Republican States Continue To Lead The Nation With More Jobs And Lower Unemployment

REPUBLICAN-LED STATES ARE BRINGING BACK JOBS FASTER

Newly released data from the Labor Department confirms that Republican governors and legislatures are leading the way in getting Americans back to work.
- More jobs are being recovered and unemployment is lower in red states.
- Through February, 15 of the top 20 states for jobs recovered since the coronavirus pandemic began are led by Republican governors, and 17 of the top 20 states have Republican-controlled legislatures.
- The top four states for jobs recovered are all led by Republicans.
- Nine of the 11 states that have more jobs than when the pandemic hit are Republican-led: Utah, Idaho, Montana, Arkansas, Texas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee.
All Republican-led states have recovered at least two-thirds of their lost jobs.
- Republican-led states on average have recovered over 97 percent of their lost jobs compared to just 84 percent for Democrat-run states.

RED STATES HAVE LOWER UNEMPLOYMENT RATES

Out of the top 25 states with the lowest unemployment rates, 21 are led by Republican governors and 22 have Republican-controlled legislatures.
- Eight of the 10 states with the lowest unemployment rates are led by Republicans.
The average unemployment rate for the nation’s 28 states with Republican governors is just 3.4 percent.
- Democrat-led states have an average unemployment rate nearly a percentage points higher – 4.3 percent.
79 percent of the states with unemployment rates equal or lower than when the pandemic began are led by Republican governors, and 95 percent have Republican-controlled legislatures.
12 states hit new record low unemployment rates, ten of which have Republican governors and all 12 have Republican-controlled legislatures.

HIGHER PRICES AT THE PUMP? THANK A DEMOCRAT

Across the country, Americans have been forced to pay record high gas prices due to Biden and Democrats’ anti-U.S. energy agenda.
- 33 states have hit new record high gas prices, and in 33 states, Americans are paying average prices above $4 per gallon.
- The average American household will spend an additional $2,000 on gas this year because of Biden’s gas hike.
Biden and blue state policies are making the U.S. more dependent on foreign oil.
In California, Governor Gavin Newsom is undermining domestic energy production through burdensome policy, with permits for 1,000 new oil wells currently stalled while another 3,000 wells are “tangled in the thorns of the state’s regulatory process.”
- It is estimated that if these wells were up and running, California would produce between 100,000 to 200,000 barrels per day.
- President of the California Independent Petroleum Association Rock Zierman said that California could replace the entirety of the Russian oil imported “by double . . . if we just got back to where we were when Gavin Newsom started his deliberate effort to shut us down.”
New York permanently banned fracking in 2020 and has made it “extremely difficult to economically transport oil and natural gas into or across the state.”
- The New England region is forced to rely on expensive foreign oil despite being just 400 miles from “perhaps the largest gas field in the United States in the Marcellus Shale” because “there’s no way to get to New England without going across New York.”
In Michigan, Governor Gretchen Whitmer has tried to shutdown Enbridge’s Line 5 pipeline, which could kill 33,755 Midwest jobs and cut off transportation for 66 percent of Michigan’s oil production.
- If Line 5 gets shut down, gas prices in the Midwest region would increase by at least 9 percent.
To remind voters that Biden and Democrats’ anti-American energy agenda is costing them more, the Republican National Committee has launched a series of voter registration drives at gas stations across the country.
