Republican-Led States Continue To Build On Their Record Of Economic Success

REPUBLICAN-LED STATES ARE BRINGING BACK JOBS FASTER

Newly released data from the Labor Department confirms that Republican governors and legislatures are leading the way in getting Americans back to work.
- More jobs are being recovered and unemployment is lower in red states.
Through April, nine of the top 10 states for jobs recovered since the coronavirus pandemic began are led by Republican governors, and all 10 states have Republican-controlled legislatures.
- The top four states for jobs recovered are all led by Republicans.
- 12 of the 14 states that have more jobs than when the pandemic hit are Republican-led: Utah, Idaho, Montana, Arkansas, Texas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, South Dakota, Indiana, South Carolina and Tennessee.
All Republican-led states have recovered over 70 percent of their lost jobs.
- Republican-led states on average have recovered over 100 percent of their lost jobs compared to just 87 percent for Democrat-run states.

RED STATES HAVE LOWER UNEMPLOYMENT RATES

Out of the top 25 states with the lowest unemployment rates, 20 are led by Republican governors and 20 have Republican-controlled legislatures.
- Eight of the 10 states with the lowest unemployment rates are led by Republicans.
The average unemployment rate for the nation’s 28 states with Republican governors is just 3.1 percent.
- Democrat-led states have an average unemployment rate nearly a percentage point higher – 4 percent.
Two-thirds of the states with unemployment rates lower than when the pandemic began are led by Republican governors, and 86 percent have Republican-controlled legislatures.
17 states hit new record low unemployment rates, 13 of which have Republican governors and 16 have Republican-controlled legislatures.

BIDENFLATION IS HURTING AMERICANS’ POCKETBOOKS

April’s Consumer Price Index surged by 8.3 percent compared to last year – a near 40-year high – while real average hourly wages fell 2.6 percent due to inflation.
- According to an estimate from Congress’ Joint Economic Committee, inflation is now costing the average American family an extra $569 per month – the equivalent of $6,829 per year.
Under Biden, 48 states have hit new record high gas prices, and in every state Americans are paying average prices above $4 per gallon.
- Today marks the 11^th day in a row that U.S. gas prices have reached a new record high, now averaging $4.59.
99 percent of Americans now view inflation as a problem.
- Bidenflation is disproportionately impacting low-income families as 73 percent of low-income adults are worried about maintaining their standard of living – up 17 points since last year.
