BIDEN WANTS TO BUILD WASHINGTON BACK BROKE

• Today, Biden is in Seattle, Washington to tout his radical green agenda and his failed efforts to lower inflation.
  • Washingtonians reject Biden with his approval rating at a dismal 42 percent in the state. 
  • Washington residents are also rejecting failed Democrat Governor Jay Inslee with 60 percent having a negative view of the job Inslee has done as governor.

CRIME SURGES ACROSS WASHINGTON DUE TO DEMOCRATS’ “DEFUND THE POLICE” AGENDA

• Biden’s visit to Seattle comes as the city is experiencing a surge in violent crime.
  • Biden and his administration have done nothing to solve the crime wave and Biden has surrounded himself with defund the police supporters.
  • Two-thirds of Seattle voters have considered moving out of Seattle in part due to rising crime.
• Seattle Democrats defunded the police on multiple occasions, leading to record-high crime throughout the city. 
• • The city has seen “over a 95% increase in more shots fired” and “a 171% increase in people being shot compared to last year.”
  • In 2021, violent crime in Seattle reached a 14-year high, up 20 percent from the prior year.
• This year, violent crime in the city has already “matched or surpassed last year’s numbers” leaving residents feeling “helpless.”
  • Local business owner Brandon Davis said, “Sometimes I don’t want to work late because I’m thinking maybe it’ll be me that gets shot.”
• Frustrated, underfunded, and disrespected, many law enforcement officers are leaving the force.
  • After the Seattle City Council voted to slash Police Chief Carmen Best’s department budget by 14 percent, she resigned: “It’s about the overwhelming lack of respect for the officers . . . It goes against my principles and conviction, and I really couldn’t do it.”
  • Seattle is now down 375 officers due to Seattle’s anti-police climate, mirroring staffing levels of the 1990s.

BIDENFLATION IS MAKING IT HARDER FOR WASHINGTONIANS TO MAKE ENDS MEET

• Nationally, March’s Consumer Price Index surged by 8.5 percent compared to last year.
  • Washington has seen costs rise faster than the national average, with consumer prices in the west rising by 8.7 percent since last year.
  • Inflation is costing the average Washington family $509 per month according to an estimate from Congress’ Joint Economic Committee.
• Last month, average gas prices in the Evergreen State reached a new record high of $4.74 and are currently up $1.29 from one year ago. 
• On top of the 50 cents per gallon state tax currently in place, Washington Democrats recently passed a CO2 tax that will increase state taxes on gas by another 58 cents starting in 2024.
• Bidenflation has led to rising mortgage rates for home buyers, with the Evergreen State seeing monthly median costs for a 30-year fixed mortgage rising by $430 in just the last three months.
• Because of rising prices, real wages for Washington workers are falling and their paychecks are worth less.
• Higher food prices are also forcing many Washingtonians to resort to food banks to feed their families.
  • Volunteers of America, a food bank in Everett, has seen a 25 percent increase in the number of people seeking free food.
  • At Helping Hands Food Bank in Sedro-Wolley, 80 percent of its clientele have jobs but are still unable to afford rising food prices.

DEMOCRAT LEADERSHIP IS FAILING WASHINGTON

• The unemployment rate in Washington is tied for 34th in the country, trailing 24 Republican-led states.
• Washington received a “C” for its poor pandemic response according to a report by the National Bureau of Economic Research.
  • Washington ranked 47^thfor getting children back to in-person school during the 2020-2021 school year, while 19 of the top 20 states were led by Republicans. 
• The number of self-identifying Republicans in Washington has increased by 10 points in the last year.
• In deep-blue Seattle, voters elected Ann Davison as the new city attorney, the first Republican elected in Seattle in more than three decades.
  • This came after Biden won Seattle by 53 points in 2020.
