Biden’s Job-killing, Costly Policies Are Crushing Average Pennsylvanians
PENNSYLVANIANS ARE FACING RISING PRICES UNDER DEMOCRATS
- Under Biden, Pennsylvanians are already experiencing higher prices for the goods and products they need.
- Nationally, consumer prices jumped 5.4 percent annually in June, the fastest pace since 2008.
- Pennsylvania gas prices have risen 21 percent under Biden, and are up 34 percent from where they were last July.
- Housing has become less affordable, with home prices across the United States up 23 percent and rents nearly triple their typical rate.
- In June, the median home price in the Lehigh Valley was up 19 percent compared to last year.
- Used car prices in Pennsylvania, a key inflation indicator, spiked 14 percent – or over $3,200 – since last year.
BIDEN’S “HOMETOWN” IS GETTING CRUSHED BY RISING PRICES
- “Joe from Scranton” has failed his hometown, which is suffering from rising prices thanks to his policies.
- Joe Fasula, co-owner of Gerrity’s Supermarkets: “We’re seeing, again, 10 to 15 percent increases . . . Everything that we are experiencing now is unprecedented.”
- Mike Moletsky, owner of Moletsky’s Auto Sales: “This is probably the worst it’s been in a long time.”
- Kevin Santiago, Pennsylvania resident: “My car usually takes around $25 to fill up, it's $10 more.”
- Kathy Opshinsky, Pennsylvania resident: “I might not buy as much of something, like for two weeks. I might just buy like a week at a time instead of buying in bulk.”
- Lisa Cohowicz, general manager of the Northeast Pennsylvania Auto Association, on high vehicle prices: “Yes, yes they’re outrageous.”
- Peter Ventura, co-owner of Coney Island Lunch: “Boy when things go up, it hits immediately . . . Like hot dogs, they’ve gone up. Our hamburgers, our chili sauce cause that’s made with ground beef . . . I’m going to have to raise prices, there’s no way to get around it.”
DEMOCRATS ARE FAILING PENNSYLVANIANS
- Biden is squandering the economic recovery he inherited and pushing policies that are fueling skyrocketing inflation.
- Biden’s tax hikes would cost the average Pennsylvanian more than $6,700 over the next decade.
- Pennsylvania has yet to recover two-thirds of the jobs lost due to the coronavirus pandemic.
- Under Democrat Governor Tom Wolf, Pennsylvania ranks in the top ten states for highest unemployment rate.
- Every single state with a Republican governor has a lower unemployment rate than Pennsylvania.
- As Pennsylvania businesses and workers struggle to recover, Biden’s failed policies are driving jobs out of the state.
PENNSYLVANIA WORKERS ARE SUFFERING UNDER BIDEN
- Under Biden, Lehigh Valley workers are losing their jobs or seeing them shipped overseas.
- Windkits LLC, a maker of wind turbine blades based in Macungie – the city Biden is visiting – is closing its Lehigh Valley manufacturing plant and shifting the work to Mexico, putting 63 Pennsylvanians out of work.
- The Lehigh Valley’s Dixie Cup plant blames outsourcing work to China as its reason for closing and putting 190 Pennsylvanians out of work.
- Commercial data provider Dun & Bradstreet, which employs hundreds in the Lehigh Valley, is moving some operations to India.
- Appvion, a paper manufacturing company, is closing its doors for good in Blair County, resulting in a loss of 293 jobs.
- In Allegheny County, U.S. Steel announced its plans to cancel a $1.5 billion investment in Mon Valley Works, a decision that will cost about 1,000 union jobs and four million hours of construction work.
BIDEN IS WAGING WAR ON PENNSYLVANIA ENERGY WORKERS
- Biden’s energy policies have already killed thousands of blue-collar jobs.
- On day one, Biden cancelled the Keystone XL pipeline and blocked new drilling on federal lands.
- Pennsylvania’s fracking industry is under siege by the Biden administration, with Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm suggesting a full fracking ban is still a possibility.
- This comes as no surprise, as Biden repeatedly promised to wipe out fracking, the fossil fuel industry, and the jobs they support on the campaign trail:
- Biden admitted in 2019 that there would be “no place” for fossil fuels, including fracking, in a Biden presidency, and that fossil fuels would be “eliminated.”
- Biden said he wants to “phase out” fossil fuels such as fracking.
- Biden said he would “sacrifice” “hundreds of thousands” of fossil fuel jobs in pursuit of his anti-energy agenda.
- Now, Americans are paying on average over $3 per gallon while Russian exports of oil to the U.S. are at an all-time high.
- Biden’s plan to destroy the energy industry would devastate Pennsylvanians.
